I have thought for a number of years that I am a sex addict.

I am quite high functioning though, as in can control it and look for great experiences rather than more mediocre ones more often.

Anyone else on here think or know that they are addicted?

How do you manage your addiction?

I was but not now.

It's very damaging to yourself and those around you.

Just because you like sex and lots of it doesnt make you a sex addict.

If you dump friends, family or work for sex then I'd get help! If not, just enjoy having sex in your free time

Not any more, but in the past it definitely did. It’s why I spent 4 years in celibacy. It’s also why I now describe myself as a high functioning addict. Once an addict always an addict.

I would say I’m kind of with you OP. I’m not addicted as I lead a “normal” life. But I am certainly obsessed with it and the feelings sex give me. In my past I would say I have been in risky situations to get my hit, but as I have matured I tend to have curbed this and just have amazing sexual experiences with people I find attractive. But having said that lockdown is causing me to go a little crazy!!

It’s a tad generalised. Not all alcoholics are the ones on the streets drinking cans of special brew.

Yes lockdown is definitely increasing my alcohol consumption. One of the addictions I didn’t think I had!

Muchbas I would like some of them to... but, that's the parameter of an addiction: the absence of normal choice

Actually the choice is there. It’s always there. Many alcoholics can and do choose not to drink, granted most of them need help to do so. They still choose to find the help though.

I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. There have been times in my life where it has consumed me. I've done stuff I am not proud of. Lost jobs.. neglected my house. Not picked up my kids from school. Spent all day having sexual pleasure instead of doing anything. Not eating ... not caring about myself or anyone else but the sex. I have not had a relapse in many years. I have found ways to keep focused..

I when its affliction based dont really care who. My only thing I've managed to always keep in check is it has had to be safe.. I found taking back control worked for me. And one of the reasons I just do club meets is because it helps me limit and control x

Yes I see the term used sometimes on profiles and it makes me cringe, that some people think this is something to be bragging about or a joke. The OP though definitely is not glamourising it here.

I think most of us heavy-duty fabs users have elements of addiction in our behaviour. Besides the sex/porn/internet addiction mix is pretty common in this day and age! I definitely invest too much time&energy on this "hobby", yes to the detriment of other aspects of my life. I don't think I have a sex addiction, I like experimental sex and have given space in my life to explore my desires/perversions. But my internet addiction is borderline pathological, so when these interests mix it is potent

Very interesting to be reading from people who are aware of their challenges and work to self-defined limits.

Sorry to but in I do love sex I thought I was sex addict few years that's all I wanted now I still love to have sex and make new friends.

As someone said you could lose lot of people if you think about sex 24/7

sorry to bother you. I just had look at your profile can I say your very beaitfull and to be honset I dont think your a sex addict. I seen profiles on here if some people who been on 6 months and had 50 meets so your not sex addcit

Have I chosen sex over family and friends? Yes

Have I got into dangerous situations in my pursuit of it? Yes

I most certainly am not glamourising it. I have a good balance in my life now, well except for the moment when all I do is work, garden and Netflix. I seem to have it under control, but it’s always something I have to be mindful of.

Strange how many have chosen to analyse me rather than answer my original question.
