Weight gain during lockdown?

Are you gaining any weight during lockdown? I'm pretty sure we both have. Lack of exercise and constant access to food probably.

I guess people who are very muscular and used to lifting heavy will lose weight and those who’s fat ratio is higher will gain weight!

I’ve gained a bit but starting to lose now I’m working out more and gone back to running!

No, we have quite a lot of heavy physical work to do and only access to the staples when it comes to food. Only one of us can go to the shops as the other is classed as vulnerable and we try to limit the number of times so tend to run out of snacks pretty quickly.

If there were unlimited snacks available and no way to exercise though I reckon we'd both be putting weight on.

I've never powered walked, but done a hour long power walk on the up hill route 3 days in a row and it definitely picked my spirits up being out of the house and I got back to the house energised, had to give it a miss yesterday as my legs were screaming at me, but heading out today again

Power walking is under rated as a form of exercise

Definitely, I'm used to doing around 30,000 steps a day when working so a big difference. I'm also having 3 meals a day plus the snacks. Usually I just grab & go, eat whilst I work. Lucky to get a break!

I'm going to need easing in when we open again for sure! If I can fit through the doors

With the level of sexual frustration and need for physical human interaction, I dont think people will be interested in a few pounds one has gain once lockdown is lifted. At least you will have time to adjust before their brain starts to recall what you look like before lockdown

I'm actually staying about the same, over the last few weeks I've fluctuated between 81.5kg -83kg.

I should be loosing lots of weight with the amount of cycling I am doing now.

However the amount of ice cream, cookies and cups of tea I have is evening it out!

Exactly, we had Majorca 70.3 cancelled and Long Course Wales and Costwolds 113. We have Vitoria-Gasteiz full in July but expecting it to go and Wales full in September which is still a possibility but no swimming training sucks.

I'm down 4kg.

2-3kg of that is water as my carb intake I've cut in half from 600g a day to 300g.

The rest muscle/fat.

Not that concerned. Will all comeback within 4 weeks or so.

Strength however I have no idea what's happened to that. Will have wait and hope it's not that bad

I was going to the gym a lot in the evenings before lockdown, swimming nearly every day. Since they closed I have been at home in the evenings which means snacking and drinking.

However I am out cycling most days usually around 20 miles. And I also have to walk the dogs every day for a couple of miles ( I will whisper that one so the exercise police don’t hear me! )

All in all I reckon I’ve put a bit on, but oh well that’s life. !

I have found, if I don't buy any biscuits, cakes or crisps, no alcohol.

Plan to eat just two meals a day, I don't eat breakfast, or I have a banana, I try and go for a balanced meal then walk fast or run once a day I have maintained my same body weight, its important to keep moving as you would at work to keep the metabolism working..

Yup. My jeans are tighter than they were before lockdown and I have been going for long walks and trying to be as active as possible in the comfines of my small home.

The lure of food for comfort at this time is constantly there.

I think some sexercise is needed once lockdown ends and it is safe to meet again.

If I am going to excercise, I may as well have fun in the process!

It's worth getting his thyroid gland checked, people with overactive thyroids are often unable to put any weight on. My Dad had this in his middle aged years, was skinny as a rake and ate like a horse before they got to the bottom of it.
