Did you have a drive to nowhere...

and loved it?

Well I just did. The motorway was so peaceful. Felt very refreshed.

Had a flat car battery today so called RAC. The man says you are allowed to drive 30 to 45 mins a day to keep the cars going. Considered as essential driving!

Has anyone else been out and about on a drive to nowhere?. What did it feel like?

Sounds like a waste of time and fuel to me, not sure if cars really need to run that amount every day.

No I miss driving long distances for a weekwnd getaway.

But I did enjoy admiring the docked cruise ships whilst walking my dog

I miss long distance drives too. Only did about 15 miles round trip this time. But it was amazing to see the almost abandoned M1.

Thats great you have the view of the ships on your walks. No chance of that in Nottingham.

As this helps to keep your car maintained and would stop unnecessary calls to breakdown service was his logic.

Oh dear, its a pain when your car goes wrong isn't it.

We are allowed to drive a short distance to take exercise so I get out and take a walk then drive back.

It's perfectly acceptable as long as you exercise for at least the length of time your one way journey takes. So a 20 min drive one way = 20 min walk.

Indeed, but driving 30-45 mins per DAY as ‘car maintenance’ is not an essential journey regardless of what spin you put on it.

I was just reading info from the RAC on the web and they advise a trickle charger etc but do not say that keeping your car running is essential.

My motorcycle has been out once since November, worse for them! Been idle for months already!

I was going to the east coast today (to see my daughter before anyone jumps down my throat) but was up all night with deli belly (apparently I'm a crap cook) so I'm getting a good nights sleep tonight and going tomorrow, shame the weather's to turn and wont be able to have the top down on the way there and back.
