Originating from the ‘game’ reputedly played by Russian soldiers where 5 of the 6 chambers of a revolver were left empty and one bullet placed in the 6th.

The chambers were spun and wherever it stopped, the gun was placed against the players head, by themselves, and the trigger pulled.

If the chamber was empty, you were lucky..
