I'm looking for something to build or make while I'm at home.

I'm thinking maybe a drone or a remote control car.

Anyone else have a time consuming hobbie at home?

I'm a software engineer, so I've been building apps and websites using new tech to keep my skills fresh. That takes up a lot of time!

I've taken to upcycling furniture after doing a course last year. It's quite therapeutic and nice to have something that's one of a kind.

It's great isn't it. I dud a 1940s dressing table last summer. I was really pleased with the result. This summer I've got a bureau and some cupboards to do.

I've seen enough movies to know nothing good comes from building robots

I had so much fun with that in my uni days!

Unfortunately when it comes to hardware and DIY stuff, I'm awful. It once took me three days to put laminate down in the living room of a 1 bedroom flat, and the edges were so uneven that beading wouldn't even cover up the mess I'd made

First two weeks I spent sewing new bags and a dress

Since then I’ve been stripping my house bare and getting on with over due renovations

Probably not going to buy it, but would love a photo when it's done.

I managed to forge out my first carbon steel knife that survived heat treating

Considering it takes me around 4 hours to forge it out, then about 3 hours to heat treat it, it’s a real kick in the balls when it fails.

I locked the knife in a vice and hit it with a hammer for around 50 hits, hard hits.

Didn’t even come close to breaking it, considering my first carbon steel knife snapped on the first hit, I was super happy!

Make toilet paper. Chew free newspapers, run them through a pasta machine on lasagne setting, roll onto used cylinders. Become an internet billionaire.

I'd be more impressed if you could make a coffee table into a working V6 Engine
