P.O. Box DE1 0NQ

The first time that I ever got in a plane I flew it. I was in the CCF at Boarding School and we had a Field Day at RAF Abingdon, the real pilot even let me do a barrel roll. I was 16 and it was a Chipmunk

"I can fly a kite pretty well."

I would not mock that

In my opinion that's rather a talent

But as a kite surfer I would say that and we have to vector 2 forces

Glasgow/London

I've considered applying for PPL/LAPL over the years, but it's too costly to justify the time i have available to fly... Does that count

Join a local gliding club. Very cheap way to fly.

Whilst I can't speak for any guys on here who are pilots I'm sure the "all pilots are hot" is a myth in the same way "all firefighters are hot" . Bit like air stewardesses, it's the uniform that blinds people in my experience.

Oh yeah not all of them are hot. But like in any profession there are some right fit ones out there

I used to play footy with a load of firefighters and one of them was a right fat twat, wonky eye etc. We had an evacuation at work one day and a load of the women were getting giddy waiting for the engines to turn up... lo and behold my mate was first off the truck and should've seen their faces drop!

"I’m a glider pilot.....not so exciting haha"

Glider flying is real piloting skill. You have to be far more in touch with your glider and the elements, and what keeps you aloft. Every landing is a forced landing and you have to get it right every time. Not so with powered flying.

I'm a plank driver by nature but can fly helicopters too. Each has it's merits..

I’d love to learn to fly a helicopter. I guess there is a lot of muscle memory involved in helicopter flying. If you have piloted any other aircraft a helicopter must go against all your instincts

Totally true. Whilst I am of course a flying god to be on here, I've known some real fugly, and really not very nice fellow pilots. People are swayed by the image. People are people, regardless...

Not really. Once you get your head around the fact that you are flying the rotor disc it's a lot more simple. The fuselage, engines, crew etc., are just so much crap hanging underneath..
