Not your kinky ones. It might work too.

Govt is likely to make it compulsory.

Do you already wear them?

Do you buy them or make them?

If you are not good with a sewing machine ETSY got a good range.

Always wear gloves and mask when out in public which is roughly for half an hour each week as do most people here.

I doubt they would make them compulsory, the supply of masks isn't available for the whole population to wear several each day.

The government won't make it compulsory. Research has very varied results when it comes to general public wearing masks. NHS advice at present is don't wear one if you have asthma as it actually makes breathing more difficult. Also the masks weaken with usage so become ineffective after a while and need replacing. Plus they don't have enough. Plus it's too expensive. Plus how do they implement that.

I was wrapping my scarf round my face to start but it got too hot for that

This is in light of the new Oxford research paper. One of the reason they have delayed is due to the availability. So the advice might be to make one if you cant buy one.

They are not even issued to those on the front line, so I certainly won’t be wearing one.

It certainly prevents the spread of airborne droplets. But to get the benefits everyone should wear it. Take your point about asthma sufferers.

I'm not sure individual compliance with appropriate donning and doffing procedures will make mass mask usage worthwhile. And for any type of mask, I'd want to make sure those who need it have it before I did.

I've been stranded in Thailand for the last month and a half. I've been wearing a mask in public the entire time. Started out that way because everyone else was wearing masks. I am absolutely convinced that it has helped curb the infection rate along with pretty strict social distancing. To date Thailand has announced only 43 deaths. But just like any other country, there are probably way more deaths. But at least the hospitals are not overwhelmed here.

Agree with you. The ones for the front line are high tech though and for longer use. The ones for the public are only intended as protection during occasional time outs.

The one trip a week I go I don’t wear a mask.

Very unlikely it will become compulsory as they are not readily available. Will be lots of home made ones which are unlikely to be effective as a medical one

I heard similar experience from Japan too. Take any data with a pinch of salt. Especially international comparisons.
