Had it said to me many times that I’m up my own arse or think I’m better than everyone else but what exactly is it that makes you up your own arse?

Having several ribs removed, that would enable one to be up one's arse. Otherwise physiologically impossible

Honestly, it means they can't get what they want out of you.

Nobody that's secure in themselves and/or not trying to manipulate you says that.

It annoys me so much when people say that. There’s no need if it’s in response to rejection. I’ve heard it loads from people I have politely rejected/ not replied quick enough to/ not replied at all to.

I think it’s just means their feelings are hurt and they want someone to blame rather then take it on the chin.

Arrogance. Ignorance. Conceit.

Oh and I wasn't sure whether this was a literal question so...

It also means being full of yourself. So much so that your head is metaphorically up your own arse filling you up.

None of these are particularly attractive qualities so I hope the person saying these thing was wrong

I don't agree with any of the above. It doesn't mean thinking you are better than anyone else ( others don't come into it) It isn't always just a jealous retort made by the rejected.

It means that someone is very far removed from reality. They are that far removed and insecure in themselves that they exist on their own hype and inflated egos and to make things slightly worse they believe the crap they spout and insult others by thinking they believe what is being said. Those up their own arse work hard to convince others of their worth.

It's not so much conceit as it is self delusion.

e.g. they are not up someone elses arse hole but up their own arse..... narcissistic etc.....

I’ve had that before.

I just think someone says that to you when they can’t deal with rejection.

What they can’t have automatically becomes them feeling like you think you’re better than them.

Which isn’t true, everyone is allowed to have their own preference and wants. We all are allowed to say if someone Is for them or not.

That’s my take anyways.

Could understand it from a rejection point of view, tell someone they’re not your type, they respond saying I think I’m too good for them.

But I’ve had it said from forum interaction so haven’t rejected anyone. It’s just people thinking I believe I’m better than others because I don’t put myself down about my appearance and think highly of myself.

Well ,I think someone being passive aggressive is one who doesn't like being asked to do things or will only do them when it suits them to do it and carries a " who do you think you are to ask me " attitude..

Why should you put yourself down to please others? Its impossible to be attracted to everyone. I'm always honest and will say I am sorry I don't fancy you. I've only ever had one that came back with a load of abuse, to the point I blocked him. Chin up! Chest out!

I don't think it's about having self confidence.

It's about telling people (or thinking) you're better than them.

I'm confident, I don't think I'm better than other people.

Think the simple response to anyway who says that to you is fuck off and block. But it says more about them than you. You could be classed as up your own arse because you have standards and there’s nothing wrong with individual standards

As above. I would interpret up my own arse as self centred/self obsessed. Very focused on their own ego. Unable to acknowledge others properly whilst demanding from others to put them first. Something like that.
