Would only expect serious fitness fanatics to do that but it is a thing. Of course it is it’s about showing off hehe I’ve had everything from time trial bikes, disc wheels, lightweight climbing bikes, aero road bikes, winter road bikes. Plus a Wattbike. But hey it’s personal choice. That said if I was young and keen and racing time trials now I think I would love aero testing, it would pander to the obsessive in me! I did kinda need new wheels, we have a £2k budget for bike to work and Dolan did me a deal on a campag chorus equipped tuono but I massively compromised on the wheels to come in under budget! So the following years budget went on a pair of carbon cosmics and they really do fly (plus the whooshing noise when you sprint is pretty fucking cool). It's a far nicer bike than I can justify for summer riding and the occassional duathlon. But it is an absolute joy to ride and for me that is priceless | |||

Are they gold plated or what!? Because I don't think there is any way to justify the amount of money. One of the bicycles I saw was almost 7 grand! I could buy a bloody good motor for that. It just seems like daylight robbery to me. My most expensive bike was 5.5k. It weighed 7kg. Was a very nice bike and was perfect for a day in the Peak District hills. Cycling is all about power to weight ratios. The the lower the weight the better you will go up hill. It’s a simple science My most expensive cycling shoes were nearly £300. Again stiff carbon sole light weight and more efficient " You can get a pair of very good quality motorbike race boots for that money, and theyre designed as a safety garment.. out of ignorance on my behalf, what do 300 quid bike shoes offer over 50 quid ones as none will save your ankle in the event of a crash | |||

I cycle up some of the climbs in Peak District quicker than that. I can ride a 10 mile time trial in around 20mins. That’s an average speed of 30mph. | |||

I obey traffic laws (unlike many drivers speeding or using mobile phones whilst driving). And yes I know a visual minority of cyclists do flout the rules which gets people's back up including me! So let's also take a look at people that buy performance cars when the UK speed limit is 30/50/70 or 4x4s for driving around London? Or guys that haven't kicked a ball since they were 11 years old now with a massive beer belly and sporting a football top? "I don't know how they can justify the price of some bikes. A guy I know paid more for a service than a car! I was in a bike shop recently and the I priced a pair of shoes and they were £140 I just thought what is so good about them for cycling. Some of the bikes were thousands of pounds! Are they gold plated or what!? Because I don't think there is any way to justify the amount of money. One of the bicycles I saw was almost 7 grand! I could buy a bloody good motor for that. It just seems like daylight robbery to me. My most expensive bike was 5.5k. It weighed 7kg. Was a very nice bike and was perfect for a day in the Peak District hills. Cycling is all about power to weight ratios. The the lower the weight the better you will go up hill. It’s a simple science " I prefer custom made bikes, why pay that amount out to have make it fit with stem sizes and seat tubes. I built my last bike on a Harry Quinn frame building course in 93, the man himself followed me for a mile when riding to his workshop. He built the frame to fit like a glove, which it did then and still does now. I would like to upgrade the Campag groupset, but can't find one I like. | |||

They make it very difficult to over take and whenever anyone beeps their horn or tells them to keep over, they put the fingers up and shout "FUCK OFF"

You can over take them safer and quicker side by side? I wouldn't of thought that. "They aren’t as long an over take so you are in the opposite lane for less time than if they were single file. I cycle and don’t get me wrong some cyclist should be single file on narrow roads, but wider roads they should double up. It’s what’s suggested as safe riding | |||
