Anyone else making Face Shields for the NHS?

Ashbourne(ish) and Chesterfield(ish)

I am currently using my 3D printers to make face shield components for the NHS as part of a crowdsource campaign run by 3DCrowdUK.

I was wondering if anyone else is also using their kit to manufacture PPE to help protect frontline NHS staff?

My dad and grandad are. They’ve donated some to local hospitals, care homes and GPs. They’ve raised over £1800 on gofundme so far. I’m so proud

That is an amazing achievement, well done to them, I can see why you are so proud of them.

Will the nhs take all the stuff being made for them. I always wonder if there is standards or tests/kite marks required for their equipment that needs to come from registered sources. Hope Im wrong on that though x

I know that my dad and grandad went to the places they donated to and asked if they could use them. They now have other hospitals, care homes etc placing orders with them

I’ve seen doctors on Facebook asking if people can make scrubs, can make wee bands so your face mask can loop onto that instead of your ears etc

That was something I wondered about at first but the design we are printing has been accepted by various health authorities in Europe (It was designed in the Czech Republic) and the NHS are grateful for them.

Between us all, we made over 16,700 last weekend alone (there are over 5,500 people involved making them), and those are now in the hands of NHS hospitals.

Ah thats good then. I worried all these people making stuff that some red tape might prevent the nhs using. I saw all the headband, lòop things they look really clever.

It's a sorry state when you have health care professionals asking for DIY kit and when this is over the government will have to face some serious questions.
