I had a lovely pamper session yesterday done my eyebrows ‘shaved my hair and used a lovely new face mask ...My skin which has been awful lately has started improving and I’m going to use my fake tan today ...Feeling good on the outside definitely helps my mental health...Going to try different colour eyeshadow today hopefully be able to perfect that smoky eye look..

I think I'm going to try a pastel look today. So not my thing.

My skin is improving but isn't great at the moment. Keeping up with my routine. Need a new hydrating mask. Considering a jade roller more for relaxation purposes.

Non seriously plopping at the moment, as I'm using up my hair products before I dive into curly girl. Avoiding heat styling though to preserve my hair as it grows.

Ive decided I should try moisturising my face and have an added sun factor to it as I keep tanning the wrinkles round my eyes in an odd way. Any suggestions welcome

I am starting to run low on a few make up items, I obviously don't want to go to Boots to buy them. I had a look online and then realised that I should look online to see if I can buy the same items cheaper... wow I was so pleasantly surprised by how much cheaper they were.

I have now stocked up on a few 'essential' items and am pleased to have saved money too. X

For absolute beginners I'm not 100% sure. Robert Welsh is amazing and cuts through a lot of crap, though. There's a lot out there that looks amazing on camera and utterly shit in person, and he talks through that, although his techniques are often advanced. Wayne Goss sometimes too.

For starters, know your colouring and what suits you. What brings out parts of your face you like, things like that.

Look for a regular moisturiser, nothing too heavy. Add a heavier night cream at night because you do still need it. Pigmentation I'm not so sure about.

I wouldn’t know how. Used to make ‘rose perfume’ when I was a kid with petals and water, don’t think it’d work with lemons

I wouldn’t know how. Used to make ‘rose perfume’ when I was a kid with petals and water, don’t think it’d work with lemons

The future struggle I see for a lot of people is foundation. Because I don't think testers or trying on in store are coming back in a hurry, and they can't be returned for bad match in the UK.

I have a great match (and another I'm hate panning right now, lol). But I'd love to explore other brands (particularly drug store ones that get a lot of love) and would have no idea where to start without adult supervision.

I found a great eyebrow/eyelash dye for anyone allergic to PPD. It's called Refectocil sensitive. I found it's great, it's a bit fiddly to do yourself but the more you practice the easier it is.

You can basically use any concealer as an eyeshadow primer, it doesn't have to cost a fortune. Boots (own brand) do some good ones.

I've heard it contributes to creasing, although it does increase colour payoff. The Nyx HD is £7 and good for the price, the Morphe similar. The UD one is better but a lot more.

Soap and Glory Heel Genius for dry skin, it really helps mine which feel tight a lot. You can get big foot emery board type things for the tough dry dead skin.

Yes it can do, particularly in more mature skin. I would usually seal the eyeshadow primer with light powder before putting any eyeshadow on, but in more mature skin I'd let the primer/concealer dry on its own.

This is why I really like Charlotte Tilbury; they send you a sample of the foundation you've purchased along with the full size bottle so you can return it if it doesn't match

To be fair I would already be using moisturiser and setting powder every day and sometimes primer if I'm having a bad skin day. And then setting spray takes like 2 seconds to spritz. I'd try it now but it would depress me not being able to go out and show it off

Totally normal description x

Benefit Porefessional, or Maybelline Baby Skin as an apparent dupe, is what I'd look at. Apparently if you get your oil degrading your foundation on your nose, eyeshadow primer works on there.

In addition, powdering both over and under foundation is a tip I heard recently (old Wayne Goss video on YouTube)

I sometimes drive to posh areas to mooch their charity shops and have a pub lunch. Anyway right before lockdown I popped out with a mate & nipped into a charity shop on route for some grub.

I found a sharp-looking corduroy suit-jacket in dark burgundy so I tried it on & it fit perfectly, I had to have it. It was £12 but I only had my bankcard & around £6 in change. So I asked the lady to put it behind counter for picking up later that day. Then forgot to go back.

Next day (sunday) I thought no bother, I'll see if it's possible to ring them Monday and ask them to hold it till Saturday. Then forgot again.

Now this covid 19 has put a spanner in the works. I just hope it's still there after. You can't buy a jacket like that now and it was in near mint condition for its age too.

To satisfy the thread, I suppose the tip is to mooch charity shops in posh areas.

I love make up and have lots. I love bright colours and I really like Jeffree Star palettes because they are beautiful colours, great quality and long lasting. I'm also a fan of highlighters too.

Probably my favourite foundation would be Dior Airflash because it really gives a flawless complexion. The best concealer I've ever used is EX1 fluid delete concealer with start Shape tape a close second.

For lips I'm obsessed with the Ciate glitter flip liquid lipsticks as they have gorgeous shades which last all day on me.

Alcurly haired girls should follow the CG method, it's basically knowing your curls and getting the best out of them whilst not using products with waxes, oils, sulphates etc. There is a group on Facebook. You don't use shampoo but certain conditioners to wash the hair.... I'm doing it since last August and my ringlets are back and no frizz.... Can't recommend it enough and it's all the cheap products that are actually the best for us

I see the difference already too. Good haircut helps as well. My hair was 2b/c. High porosity. Yours? Thanks for sharing it worked for you. Some results are astonishing. Though I do like low maintenance/quick results.

One called Called Marmara lime cicegi kolonyasn spray,Doesn't turn into a sweet smell.Or you can get oil based perfumes online in lemon scent for a around £5.

Infact if you go in ebay and search lemon perfume you'll find more "out of the box" results rather than the big names ypu might immediately think of.

I find Primers generally a little too heavy, especially as I prefer the BB Cream instead of foundation. A Q10 moisturiser, especially for the delicate skin under the eyes. Then blend the BB Cream into moisturiser, next to no coverage there - less chance of caking and cracking!

"I sometimes drive to posh areas to mooch their charity shops and have a pub lunch. Anyway right before lockdown I popped out with a mate & nipped into a charity shop on route for some grub.

Next day (sunday) I thought no bother, I'll see if it's possible to ring them Monday and ask them to hold it till Saturday. Then forgot again.

Now this covid 19 has put a spanner in the works. I just hope it's still there after. You can't buy a jacket like that now and it was in near mint condition for its age too.

To satisfy the thread, I suppose the tip is to mooch charity shops in posh areas.

Liquid lipsticks tend to be the most durable, but are very drying. I've given up (I don't use liquid lipsticks) and live with my makeup being ruined.

I’m trying to find a way to increase the volume in my beard and make it look quite thick.

My hair is quite soft in general, not sure why but the feel to it is always quite different when I straighten it. However, I can’t be doing that everyday - that’s my special occasion look.

Good beard/hair products for thickness please.

Dry skin help please. This is a new one for me having had oily skin all my adult life. I use a regular body lotion daily and have done for years but since we haven't been able to swim my skin is very dry (could there be conditioners in the water I wonder? ). Is there anything that's better than a normal body lotion?

Goodness, swimming dries out my skin. I'm combo oily dry (yay) and at the moment all over body lotion a couple of times a week (I use Superdrug Vitamin E, except for face, hands and feet) does the trick, but I can tell as I get older and I get drier I'll need to do more.

I wonder if its the shower gel my daughter gave me. I normally use a moisturising one and this stuff isn't. I'm trying to pin down a reason for it suddenly happening

I have skin reactions to some soaps/ gels including dryness, and I know my mum gets worse problems (so I suspect, given my family, that age might contribute to reactions). Definitely swap one product to pinpoint what's causing the new issue, or see if you need to change anything else.

YouTube will likely be your best bet. A lot of current makeup trends are derived from drag queens, not saying that that's the look you're going for (more that superimposing stereotypical femininity onto a male face is something you have in common)

I’m using a gold collagen rejuvenate mask it is definitely helping my skin..Think my skin was due to my anxiety levels which are not so high now ..xx

Have a look at Abzolute Artistry. He's on Insta and Faceybook. He puts up videos with tips and techniques. He's amazing, my hubby goes to him when he transforms into Jenny-TV and I've had a couple of lessons from him.

I've got my Ordinary serums going, and think my skin would be worse without. I think it's just a challenging time. We'll get there.

I have been in complete isolation for the last 2 and half weeks. I have notice my skin is sore and dry especially my face think it is just missing fresh air but living in an apartment with no private garden I have no chance of that. My usual moisturiser doesn't seem to be working so after reading this thread I went and searched The Ordinary along with cross checking the ingredients to make sure I wasn't allergic, thankfully most of them I am good with and a basket full has been purchased. Fingers crossed it restores my skin back to a pre lockdown state.

My skin has been suffering too, but more breakouts in my case. I hope it helps x
