I have a few days ( ok 2 ) out , and I return to a sea of inaneness. I need to question whether ‘inaneness’ is actually a word.

So ...

I’ve spent some time looking through what I’ve missed and I’ve got to ask the question ..

Are some of you struggling ??

Do you think you’re reaching out more on here for any kind of attention, because sadly due to the circumstances, contact and attention is lacking in our everyday lives?

Remember what the lounge was like before this started - I think it’s helpful

I guess exceptional circumstances might result in more than usual absurdity. And lower tolerance levels too

My tolerance levels are usually set at ‘inane’

There’s something that’ll never change

Indeed .... it seems somewhat strange at the present though and almost childlike

I do agree, partially

The amount of people who seem unable to control their urges is quite amusing but it doesn’t seem any more ridiculous than it usually is. But then I dip in and out so maybe I’m not seeing it regularly enough

I would say I for one have been more active than usual, replacing some real life flirting for virtual flirting.

I'm hoping its been in the spirit of the threads though and not childlike, but I can't speak for everyone.

It’s just a personal observation and how people interact is entirely up to them too

It’s not a dig, as we all deal in our own ways

We're only at the start of this and people are struggling. They're trying to make sense of an unprecedented set of circumstances, in some cases have lost or have a hugely reduced income, are at home for much longer periods or going to work in jobs that have suddenly become fraught with risk and danger. I'd expect the fab forum microcosm to reflect that.

I guess that things will level out once people find their new normal

Yes, I was going to type something like this. Don't get me wrong, I'm eye rolling a bit more now and also thinking... why? Just why? but I'm trying to not bite and be kind(ish) to people. There’s definitely a wide range of very different posts right now , I’m guessing for some who are all alone this might be their only outlet and chance to vent/rant and generally talk nonsense if they need to ! I’ve found it quite comforting at times that there’s always someone to help and support , have a giggle with , flirt with and of course there’s pictures galore to perv over ! We’ve only been around for 18 months but can definitely see that these are different times in the forums !

Absolutely, and when the new normal is something that you never thought you'd face, or have loved ones face it's like taking a wrecking ball to the nutsack.

People's lives are changing and they need to find their new "place" in life and society.

It’s changed a lot lately and I agree, there’s a lot of inane posts. But as people have lost their income there seems to be a lot of irate expression with some dreadful posts appearing during your absence. Great work on the mods for pulling those threads btw, it was the just thing to do.

But there’s been humour too and fair play to the creative bunch for the games they’ve invented. Tombola was a good laugh and taken in the right spirit. As for the attention seekers, just ignore them. As we all know, the regular posters remain just as they were so I concentrate more on what they have to say and tend to ignore the peacocks.

Great post btw, and probably necessary

As a relative newbie, I've found them more inclusive and supportive than before.

I only started to get involved with the forums just before the lockdown, and I often found it difficult to get into a conversation. People talk with their friends, it's only natural but can be daunting for someone on the outside looking in.

There probably are more odd threads on here, but there are also more kind threads too so I'm finding them a better place for me personally.

There are a lot of 'rate my' threads about

Its sort of chewing gum for the mind stuff or easy listening radio. Background noise for the weirdness of life at the moment.

"Hey Floro. Welcome back. Weirdness? No, I don’t think so. Attention seeking? Yes. Definitely. Is it going to change in the foreseeable? Nope. I’m afraid it’ll get worse as people struggle with changing realities. I do think it’s a minority though playing the popularity pissing games so if the rest of us keep plodding on, we should be able to keep each other sane

100% agree with this! Although are we sane enough to keep eachother sane?

Well you’re as mad as a hatter but you definitely keep me sane "

I try

"We're only at the start of this and people are struggling.

Absolutely, and when the new normal is something that you never thought you'd face, or have loved ones face it's like taking a wrecking ball to the nutsack.

People's lives are changing and they need to find their new "place" in life and society.

P

Hey P...good to see you x

'A wrecking ball' I can identify with that!"

Hey sweet, hope you're well xx
