With the current climate being what it is, I thought it would be nice to point out the silver linings.

For me, I’ve finally organised the cupboards, I’ve finally read my book and I’ve managed to quit smoking as the social element has been taken away.

What unexpected silver linings have you had?

I've never spent so much time talking to loved ones on the phone- made me realise how over reliant we all are on texts.

It's just been lovely reconnecting properly with friends who I don't get to see very often

Yes!!! My family don’t live close so I don’t see them all that often but we text everyday. Since being on lockdown I’ve spoken to them on the phone more than I have the last three years!

Yesssssss!!!!!! That’s amazing! I’ve started going back out. I enjoy it a lot more than I did probably because I’m making the most of being outside in the sunshine

I have got a lot closer to my daughter, the oven is clean and I finally finished painting the kitchen.

I've become a lot closer to a few amazing people and family. I've picked up the violin again (just waiting for a new bow so I can properly play). I've started experimenting with makeup and realised I actually don't look too bad with it on. And I'm appreciating the house and garden a lot more.

Distance is deepening connection in certain relationships, ironically.

Simplified life. Less to do. I'm more present for my children.

Time in the garden.

My daughter is helping me with online groups I'm running.. so sweet.

Community cohesion..my street has started a whattsapp group to make sure we're all connected and looking after the elder neighbours and tipping eachother off about loo roll in the shops!

Cleaning the oven is my least favourite thing and I’ve done mine!

We've used so the local shops so much more than before. Newsagents for bread and milk first thing in the morning, Butchers and veg shops doing deliveries - great community feel.

Also reading so much more on the forums with this 'new time'

I’ve started playing the piano again! My viola days are over- they never really began I was never any good

I’ve been experimenting with makeup too- one of my objectives by the end of this is to perfect my winged liner!

I think that relationships are a lot more manageable when distractions are taken away. We’re all in the same boat so things are less likely to be one sided. I’ve got better communication with important people in my life more so than I ever have done.

Good to see you back op!

I’m enjoying the slow pace to be honest. My life is usually 100mph. Lots of time with the kids. Playing lots of games, spending time in the garden, watching movies together. Love the sunshine too. Throwing a bit of work in the mix every day too. I miss my family, friends and my man but other than that it’s all good here x

Haven’t had a chance to relax yet as I’ve been working longer hours and harder than I’ve ever worked before (Mr J is managing to get on with some house jobs each day though) but the lovely thing that’s come out of it is I rarely see my brother or his children and even though there are 10 of us (Including parents and partners) all jotted around the country (one abroad) my brother has actually organised for all 10 of us to get together on a group chat so we get to see everyone and have a catch up once or twice a week along with a normal group message chat. So it’s been lovely and for now we’ve promised that once this is all over we will continue to chat at least once or twice a month.

With less traffic out & about you can almost hear a pin drop. So nice to sit outside in the garden & listen to Mr Blackbird sat on the shed roof signing his heart out most of the day & watching the sparrows busy in & out of the hedges whilst chirping their heads off. Love the wildlife!

Less consumers out and about whilst performing my regular Waitrose shop has been rather nice, albeit their audible applauding of me as I stroll around the store has been somewhat bizarre...

I sometimes forget I work in the healthcare arena and have, instead, convinced myself that their rapturous cheering is purely GMF adoration related

I've put on weight, I've got my face and my left side tanned, I've not worked and I've not eaten hot food for weeks, what more could you want lol

I've had more quality time with hubby and not had to rush getting all the washing done st the weekend.

I'm also enjoying how much quieter it is when I go out for a walk, with virtually no car exhaust fumes.

We’ve been volunteering quite a bit, and helping out older neighbours we never knew before all this kicked off. Have also found lots of creative ways to have fun without leaving the house, including virtual game nights and getting back in to abandoned hobbies.

This must be so confusing for pets. They don’t understand why their human is always in their space all day every day. I imagine dogs are overjoyed.

I have been doing one week at work and one week working from home.

My house is spotless and I have been able to spend a lot of time in the paddocks fixing it all back up.

And best of all my old bulldog has been on a bit of a downturn in health before this and being able to spend time with him is brilliant. Watching him sit in the sun and warm his old bones is so nice.

on the move

People are smiling outside when we do our playing the walking dead game avoidance.

There seems to be a real appreciation for those keeping us all going during this, delivery driver, check out staff and of course the health workers.

Maybe the world will be nicer after this ends.

And hopefully every government is keeping a secret list of the scum who think the rules to save lives don't apply to them.

Congrats on quitting smoking OP. Amazing

coming from a former smoker. Bloody hard to get rid of the habit.

It's not that bad because I have my kids. They seem to be doing their learning.. begrudgingly but still progress with their work. We have done lots of crafts and baking together..woodland trips too. Now planning some science projects. Things which we weren't doing with all after school activities and general homework..

I have all I need even if I don't have all I want. Rest is of less importance x

And my little wish came true today so.. yes there is a rainbow coming out..

I think this has highlighted that a lot of people are incredibly underpaid. I’m hopeful that we can get rid of the ‘unskilled worker’ tag. ‘Unskilled workers’ are keeping us all going and should be paid fairly to reflect that

Yes and unskilled workers are often jack of all trades master of none! Many work themselves up a business and then become managers! So it’s all pretty daft to treat them like second class citizens!
