Outrun ... almost as good as After-Burner!

How many control pads or joy sticks did you ruin playing track and field !

My brother had a spectrum 128k when we were growing up, both used to spend hours on it ( used to take forever to load a game )

Remember playing Daley Thompson's Decathlon, Chuckie Egg and Bomb Jack.

There was a dungeons and dragons type game where you had to collect different coloured keys but can't remember what that was called.

Not an arcade game, but PONG was my first introduction to computer games....I was quite a dab hand at Pacman and Space Invaders but that was about the sum total of my gaming - much preferred to be down the beach or up the park....then when I discovered boys - well let's just say I weaned those feckers off their Ataris too

I loved Phoenix. There was trick you could do where if you shot the aliens in a certain order you would get 200,000 points.

Outrun was a classic

Moon Cresta was a classic.

Space invaders was a classic.

Pacman was a classic.

Frogger was a classic.

The classics where we lived were street fighter, outrun, afterburner, and operation wolf... Then we got in "guest" games in so we could try them out..

I once played outrun in a proper rigged up Ferrari testarosa... I almost cried after...

More than a few great arcade games already mentioned. I spent far too much time and money in arcades as a kid so picking a favourite game is impossible.

Loved all these though.

Hang on

Chase HQ

Outrun

Space Harrier

Track & Field

Pac man

R-Type

Mortal Kombat

Double Dragon

There is more, just cant think of them at the min. N

"did any one know how to do the 2p trick to get free credits"

What was that one?

I know one where you would take the electric igniter bit from a cigarette lighter. You would use that to spark the metal plate on the arcade machine machine. Obviously making sure you was not touching the machine as you sparked it. The machine would then go haywire for a while and then give you loads of free credits.

Was Outrun the driving game that started with a voice-over stating: "Let's GOOO Mr Driver!"

I did like that one... but wasn't a kid by the time things got that sophisticated!!!

Wow this has brought some memories back.

In the arcades loved operation wolf, outrun, spy catcher, starwas xwing.

And the spectrum ones too after they had loaded up or did load up after the trippy noise and multicoloured acid screen as they loaded up for an hour.

Chucky egg 2,manic minor all the key board bashing sports ones.

Still play some of them now online on emulator sites.
