Do they know their kids are ugly?

I (obviously) think I have the worlds most beautiful baby. But what if he’s ugly and I just don’t know it? (Obviously he isn’t, but still).

(Also, no. All babies aren’t cute)

Yeah they do. One of mine wasn't the prettiest baby. Really chubby and old man looking. She's beautiful now... but certainly hasn't always been that way!!

Yeah mine looked a little bit like an alien when he was born. He’s proper chunky and beautiful now, and I did think he was beautiful when he was born. But kind of like a skinny potato

You’re precisely programmed to think your baby is the most beautiful baby in the world. Some people may agree, some people may not.

In the end, it doesn’t matter because it inly matters what you and your husband think of your baby.

And even if he weren’t perfect, parents adore their children. Hence the survival of humankind ... so far.

I often wonder this too.

Same when babies become adults. My mum tells me I'm beautiful. But she's biased.

Can parents actually tell if their offspring are unattractive or does something change in you when you have them?

I know different people find different things attractive but I think this is really interesting.

I’ve worked with kids and over time thought ‘aw yeah you are a wee cutie’ even if I didn’t think it to begin with

My cousins daughter is the cutest thing. She’s 4 now but her face is adorable, she has these little dimples and when you look at her having a tantrum it’s hard to imagine she’s capable of being naughty cos she looks that cute.

My daughter looks exactly like I did as a kid.

I’ll send you a pic now queen of me and my kid.

My firstborn was so ugly when he was born. Very jaundiced and very hairy... he even had hairy ears! I cried whenever I looked at him, lol. Thankfully the body hair/fuzz fell off, he looked much better and he is now a gorgeous 15-year-old

My friends wee girl is her daddy’s double. When she was born she cried and said ‘no, that’s a little boy...no girls are that ugly!’

I have some really bad news, when you look at those pics in like 18 years you will say fuck , I was deluded.....Hard to believe now but it happens.

Luckily they improve with age and so by the time you realise it doesn’t matter, they will actually be gorgeous
