I mean, we have a significant share of the population living in London and many more work and visit here but as a forum on fab it is very poor.

Would be great to have a better community on here.

"I mean, we have a significant share of the population living in London and many more work and visit here but as a forum on fab it is very poor.

Because too many think because it's a large population they can get a meet quickly. They expect us Londoners to drop everything and go running for a meet or a social soon as the hot the big smoke. This is mostly men who are doing it. Londoners are guilty of the instant meet requests as well. As've said on other threads, it's not instashag, you know.

Then there's others who post their meet today requirements when they are too lazy to post it on the relevant boards. Again mostly men are doing this.

Then there's the ones who think let's put up a meeting, and virtually name the place, which results in all the men screaming that they will come. Which woman is going to go to a place inundated with men, especially on her first time? Then the planned event peters out. Some other bright spark who thinks he can do better tries attempts to set up another one, then falters because he realises that is a bit more work than he bargained for.

Why there even one planned social being planned since... Feb or March?

In short, the board is literally reeking with testosterone and not in a good way. It's like they're hanging off the rafters, the chandeliers, behind corners. It's not a welcoming place for a female.

It's a gimme-gimme-gimme-I-don't have-time-and-I-want-a-meet-NOW board.

So with that in mind, that is the reason why the board is so souless.

Just for the record, there are men who frequent this the board are not like this. However the ones (more the newbies)are....oh boy....

What she said .... plus so much more that has been previously discussed on other threads, just search and you will find them I am sure.

And yes it would be great to have a community on the lobdon forum, do you have any suggestions on how to do that OP?

Maybe if people were more active in pointing posters towards the meets and events board when they wanted a meet it would help.

A lot.

OP, it would be good to hear your suggestions?

agree to all of this... you actually have more chance of a meet by exercising patience. for every message I get, a woman will probably get 100. so to even get a response is something in itself, be that a positive or negative one. trying to force things only succeeds in driving people away rather than bring them closer, and I normally find that should someone wants to extend a chat I go via kik etc so they can chat easier rather than try to find your response amongst the 20 messages that have hit their inbox in no time at all.

and if you want a social, instead of trying to organise one, suggest going to one of rabbits. only been to one myself because of other circumstances but I doubt you will find a better one anywhere..

I agree that people are not using the geographic forum for local posts. Whether or not this is because of the 'I want it now' or other reasons, it does appear that other local forums are contributed to more.

Maybe its down to moderators moving posts from the general forums or whether a post should be replicated in the local forum where a persons location indicates their locality?

I agree with the too many men to women ratio but that is everywhere on fab and not just the London forum. I don't think we can do anything about that.

Maybe tbe first step is a reliable quarterly social to build on attendance and community. I suspect numbers would have to be regulated so that women and couples can attend without being met my a tsunami of horny hopeful single guys.

Any thoughts on that?

There are socials.

There's the London socials.

There's the Heathrow socials.

There's the Secret Tea Party.

There's another for younger people run by Mae Babe.

Collectively you don't have to wait more than 3 months before one pops up. In fact it's much less than that.

You need to look at the forums a bit more.

In fact, I do believe there's a Heathrow Social being planned for the 28th of July.

The numbers are regulated to ensure a fair male/female ratio.

Sorry think we're going off the original point. I didnt say there were not enough socials. I just suggested the London forum may be improved if there was more local community and suggested socials may be a good thing towards that.

My bad for not knowing there was already a fair few socials and yes that is because I dont read the London forum often. But the reason I dont read this forum often is because there isnt a lot posted here or replied on.

I hold my hand up and accept my lack of contribution is sympomatic of the general lack of content for the capital.

I would have expected much more in topics and comments given the sheer numbers but for whatever reason it just doesnt happen in this section.

I don't think we are going of point. There is a thriving community within the socials. People get meets from socials of course, but I can say for myself that besides the meets,I have met the most AMAZING people who have become really good mates.

I have seen people from socials from different regions visit London socials. I've known London social people going to socials in other regions. I will not speak of others, but I will say that I have promised and will go to a regional social before the summer is out. I will almost certainly go further afield to another regional social before the year is out.

We go to pubs, go see a films... Whatever. But most of all we communicate. There is indeed a community.

It's there. I think the question should be why is it not so apparent? It's tucked away because of all these testosteroned filled threads....I wanna meet.... Gimme gimme gimme...

Check the chatter on threads during and after a social. Make your mind up for yourself.

All good points, but I think there's also a wider point about London, and big city life in general.

London has a population 1.5* the size of Yorkshire crammed into an area you can walk across in a day. Fuck, it's nearly half the population of the whole of Australia crammed in here. Living space is at a premium before you factor in all the fucking investor landlords, so of the 8 million people here, many are in living arrangements that mean their space is shared.

Throw in the fact that many of us are here for career reasons, which often means long hours (Not a complaint, I'd rather do a 60 hour week of something I enjoy than go back to a 35 hour week at a call center!) But it's a tradeoff, many Londoners actively trade their social life, and yes, sex life, for a better working life. Hopping on the tube to meet some strangers is the last thing I'd want to do right now after the day I've had!

It's one of the things I like about this sort of scene. The plan is to work my arse off in my 20's and 30s and get a better work life balance in my 40s. In the meantime, socials, clubs (although I'm not a big fan of clubs in London either tbh, M/F balance is waaaay off and they feel understandably more...hostile is a strong word, but you get the idea) are there when I need them. To the point above about 'testosterone, gimme gimme gimme'...yeah, true, but I think that's one of a few symptoms.

I love a good social, and as C0tt0nSu3 already said I started my very own 'community' from these that have been held locally. This 'community' are easy going, friendly and welcoming (Just ask anyone who has been invited to join us with open arms).

We are always looking to expand our community and have a vast diversity of people and do so many things together, not just fab things either....

To be fair as a single Male I failed miserably until I got involved in meets organised on this forum. Rabbit and others helped me (normal guy) immensely and I’ve since met and made many good friends.
