"Hi All, Just trying to gauge a bit of public opinion.... I, like a number of folks use the tube most days to get to work - Im on it for a while.... On the majority of trips, I see quite a number of women who wear skirts that sit above the knee. This of course, means that when she sits down, those who are sitting opposite can see up her skirt. I find this slightly distracting, but I also feel a bit rude for wanting to look up there. Obviously, if she is wearing thick tights/stockings then its pretty impossible anyways. But here is the thing, is it really that bad for a strangers eyes to be drawn to look there? Am I really that bad for thinking that if she didnt want folks eyes ever to be drawn to there then she would wear a longer skirt ? Im not saying that Im staring creepily at women that wear short skirts in my eyeline, but an occasional glance.... What are folks thoughts? " I think your line of thought of her wearing a short skirt means she wants people to look is definitely wrong. It's in line with the thought process of what certain people have when they sexually assault a women. That because women dress a certain way they are asking for it.  | |||

"See..this is my point! This kind of daft unrelenting offish attitude..... The creepy one is not me I'm afraid......but that's the kind of attitude that stinks! So why does my attitude stink? Because I think it's creepy? It is creepy. If you can't see that then you definitely have issues. The woman is going to work. Is she sat there with her legs open? I doubt it. So that must mean that you are making an effort to try and look up her skirt. If you are sat opposite her and she is sat with her legs straight and knees together then you will see nothing. So yes I think it IS creepy. " | |||

"Mae, Not exactly- see that's the whole sort of thought process I worry about. What I'm trying to say is that women who wear short skirts I'm sure realise that other folks will sneak a peak when it's revealing in that sort of way. It's a bit like wearing a hat and not expecting people to notice you are wearing one! " I wear what I like because it makes me feel confident in myself. If all women had to reconsider their outfit because it would attract the attention of people who thought they had dressed that way specifically to entice them to look, I would be wearing baggy clothes, maxi dresses and a hood all the time. If a woman dressed up for a date with a guy she really liked, she did it for him and herself. Not for some random stranger to think she left the house that way so they could perve her... I think some people need to exercise self control and not have this entitlement. Their body,so their decision in how they dress... Your mind and thought process, should really have discipline because in your last post it seems like you are still blaming women for your creepiness | |||

And it's not just guys either, plenty of women will stare at other women too. But there's no outcry about that. Roll on summer.  | |||

What that line of thinking says is that nobody can look at anyone at all under any circumstances. Can't look at the clothes, the person, the hair, the shoes for fear of the possibility of offending someone by actually, god forbid, seeing what that person looks like! If it's on show, at all, then people are going to look - simples. You cannot censor what people look at when there is physically nothing to stop it being seen. You (and others on this forum) have taken this so very much out of context it is untrue and worth of a twitter troll! The original question was about the fact that being able to see up someone's skirt on the tube can be distracting - but not something you can easily put a stop to and what do others think. However, this kind of twisted, odd attack is just not what I expected or would have dreamed anyone even thinking. This is so very reminiscent of the local thug threatening to beat anyone up if they were caught looking in his direction- not something sustainable and landed him in jail! No matter the intended recipient of the look, if you go out in public, you will be looked at....and it it can be seen, someone will see it!" So why ask what you already know yourself??? 
Of course people will look and admire beautiful people, outfits and looks, but I'm not going to try look up a woman's skirt because she has a short skirt on and say she knew that people would try to look up it if she wore it. If however a woman's skirt was too shirt I accidentally glanced her knickers because it was riding up, I would tell her.
