Mrs Korky and I spent a leisurely afternoon in Soho last week. After a couple of lunchtime snifters we went into 3 different adult stores for a browse. Now I remember the Soho from the mid 70's and although it has changed massively, it still retains an element of seediness, which was most welcome! Mrs K really enjoyed picking up various packaged vibrators when other guys were in the stores, knowing that they were watching her and probably imagining her using one on herself later. I agree with this. There is a general feeling London is being sanitised.

Having said that I did have a friend who worked in one of the big sex shops in Soho. Some very interesting stories. They are used to couples going in and being somewhat naughty.

As you (Mo) are a similar age, you may have lived the mid 70's Soho scene, as I did when I worked up in the big wicked city! Edgy, seedy but never felt threatened (as long as I stayed out of the escort encounter bars)! Peep shows, cinema clubs, Sunset Strip (which we found out last week is open again) and quite a lot of (if I remember correctly) large Maltese doormen! Ah, good times

I agree London has become sanitised and gentrified. A lot of the edge has gone. Enjoyed the lockins at the sex cinemas, the fun strip joints and ambience. Am guessing one has to be in the know to enjoy great haunts now

I'm guessing that all of the 'video booths' have gone now? On streetview the window of Soho Books has a neon sign saying booths downstairs. I take it that's a historical sign rather than a up to date fact. Unless one of you locals knows more??

The booths have all gone, unfortunately!

Still a few shops and some clubs - but nothing like there was a few years ago.

Although, there a few dark alleys and bars with hidden corners!

Well our July visit to London has been replaced by a cheeky holiday in Gozo. I've been working away and it's now payback time when I treat Mrs Korky! I love this thread, Korky! Missed it last year, but a naughty shopping trip (and discreet, fleeting touches in dark corners of shops and bars!) is one of my biggest turn-ons...let me know if you need a willing voyeur this year, though I'm sure you won't be short of offers!
