There's more variety online but to go to the shops and talk to clerks and o examine it full on (and sometimes hands on) and not knowing what I might find. That's the bit that excites me. Though maybe I'm just being old fashioned

Aren't they a bit old hat in Soho now? For all the years that I've visited shops there I've never come across one.
