I'm guessing you and probably around 2 million others over the weekend. Hope you all gave a great time!!!

NHC is a great London tradition started by the same people that came here to help rebuild this country after the war. Long may it continue.

Although I have never been I believe the Notting Hill Carnival is 59 years old and is our part of our history especially for us in London and should be celebrated. In today’s London of stabbing and gang culture amongst our youth it is worth pointing out that since 1987 there have been 8 fatal stabbings.Although that is not a lot what I don’t know are the figures for non fatal stabbings and muggings. No one should lose their life attending a event but unfortunately a small minority spoil it for the majority.

Side note, those that aren’t factual, those that have never been or those that can’t wait to watch the so trusted negatively bias news shouldn’t comment. London like anywhere else, you attract the attention and energy you ask for and isn’t a place for people that don’t know how to navigate within the culture.

. Apologies if you feel I was been negative I believe I gave a balanced view. If you reread what I have written I start of by saying the Notting Hill Carnival should be celebrated. However as with any event whether it’s Carnival , Sporting events , music concerts there is a element of trouble knife crime that spoils it for the others.

I haven’t been the carnival for about 15 years now. And quite honestly I would rather drink my own piss then spend the day there now.

There are far too many people in too small a space, plus all the facial recognition spyware, I would rather stay clear.

Still, I’m glad it exists and hope it never becomes a ticketed event or moved to Kensington gardens / Hyde park.

It currently averages 13 stabbings a year and one fatality every other year. About 100 people arrested for carrying knives each year, 20 sexual offences/assaults (can't post the actual word that describes these), and 10 general assaults per year. Theft and muggings are completely minor.

I'm not sure how these statistics compare to an average day with that many people, but there are sure are plenty of sh#th**ds that get attracted to it.

I went yesterday for the first time . As needed to tick the box of saying I've been.

Christ my eyes almost popped out as a middled aged man nearing 50. Some absolute stunners there although half my age . Went during the day for a stroll there and was literally perving at every lady . Unbelievable! I think Dominican Republic is on my list to visit now haha or any near

Likewise, we went Monday, great music, vibes and moving through the streets like a flowing river of thousands and thousands of happy people was extraordinary.

Looking forward to next year’s carnival.

Jay, maybe at next years we could meet up sometime at a rum bar, for a drink and a close dance

Notting Hill honors the legacy of the Windrush generation and the struggles our families faced in building a life in the UK while preserving our rich cultural traditions. It gives us a space to proudly share our music, food, art, and spirit with the wider community.

Yes there have been incidents which have been super hyped by the media (and if you know you know 🙄)

So let’s leave the negativity out of it. I hope all those that attended raised their flags and bend dem knees (maybe ice packs 😂)

"I'd rather walk through Moscow waving a Ukrainian flag. "

I can confirm that would have been easier than trying to get from point A to point B at the carnival.

Highlight of the day - getting told by a young pretty female that I looked very nice.

I went along for couple hours as a first timer . Yes I was a bit worried and nervous due to all the stuff replying the media and me being a middle aged white man but I can assure you it was great fun . I actually felt like an old pervert though due to the amount of hot young black or mixed or Latina/Hispanic women parading around in very revealing outfits . It was glorious !!! I will go again but not leave it too late in the day next timeand keep to the side of the road rather than stumbling behind a trailer haha . Lots of police and security there this year so I didn't feel at all threatened. Give me a hot black, mixed or Asian lady anyday.

Probably worth pointing out that these figures are from a total of one to two million attendees!

. I believe there were 240 arrests out of 2million attendees. These are amazing figures and show what a good job the organisers and the police do.As I said in my first comments Notting Hill Carnival is 59 years old and should be celebrated as it is part of London history.Yes I did point out there had been 8 fatal stabbings since 1987. I know we get more than 8 fatal stabbings a year in London. So again this is amazing by the organisers and police that such a massive event can go of fairly smoothly.
