Hi there im a young lad thats going to be in London on the 16th of January. Im staying in an area called Bankside and im looking to go out and just socialise really. Bars and nightclubs etc.

Im not necessarily looking for a girl to chat up but it certainly would be a added bonus!

Id love if anyone can recommend or even if anyone wants to grab a coffee!

Borough Market mate. Was up there between xmas and new year and has plenty of pubs etc to pick from and close to you.

Second for Borough Market. Bankside itself doesn't have a huge amount, bar one the old pub next door to shakespeare's Globe. Walk up the river towards London Bridge (nice route anyway, great view of St Pauls and the city opposite), and try the pubs around Borough Market - Market Porter and Southwark Tavern are always good, but all the boozers around there are nice. If you're going further afield, cross over and check Bermondsey Street - loads of nice little pubs and bars down there. Have a good trip.

Seconding Borough Market.

The food market next to Flatiron Square is good. The Rose and Crown pub there does great burgers. It is attached to a backpackers hostel so you are likely to meet people who want to have a talk.

I dont like the Founders Arms at the Tate.

I would reccomend the Corner Cafe in the Tate itself. Nice small plate food.

Agree on Founders Arms - ugliest pub for miles around there. Suppose the view from the river side of the pub is good, but it honestly looks like it was meant to have a tower block built on its roof and they gave up early.

To echo the comments I'd others, both Borough Market and Bermondsey Street have some decent bars.

Safe travels and enjoy your time in London.
