I’ve always wondered, how do you tell which London massage places are legitimate and which offer something a little spicier?

Looking for recommendations in the east London / Leyton area

As a general rule...

1. Look at its opening hours. Places that are offering extras will tend to open later. If a place keeps normal business hours/closes by 6, it's probably not offering. Places that offer more will generally have hours that stretch into late evening - 10-11pm.

2. Look at the window. Certain key phrases will be in the window of places offering extras.

"Deep Tissue Massage"

"Fertility Treatment"

"Full Body/Service Massage"

"Asian Massage"

Also look for pictures in the window of any scantily clad women.
