I enjoyed visiting Islington recently, it's lively with lots of independent shops, cafés and restaurants.

However, it does have a scary escalator in the tube station

If the weather isn't too terrible you can do a lot worse than hang out on the South Bank. Then a short walk over Waterloo Bridge and your into the West End.

As the previous poster said, you then Islington for a slightly more quiet time.

couple, us we him her.

That's the great thing about London so many places to go.

Covent Garden is always busy but very touristy.

Camden Town was always the place where the cool kids hung out.

But not had a proper night out in London village for a while.

Further out, Richmond was always good for a nice evening and Kingston.

Some good places in Hackney Wick.

Soho still has a few decent places left.

The City isn't a cool neighborhood but it's an interesting, historic and important part of London.

I here London is so expensive now that it's take the easyness vibe out if it. But Having said that I haven't been there for a few years to experience it.

Having been out in Kingston and Wimbledon recently I'd say the latter is definitely better.

Camden is still very popular, I find it a little naff now, touristy and expensive but that might just be me but I suppose I'm comparing it to when I used to go out there as a 16 Yr old!

South Bank is nice, for food the Mercato Metropicano is fun in Elephant and Castle. London Bridge is nearby and lots going on there. A little dingy but that's why I like it

Guess this also depends where you're staying. It can take ages getting across the city and spending your time traveling isn't fun!

London is made up of lots of villages that have merged over the years so has many different characters, all within a few mins of each other. The West End is great for newbies as it's easy to navigate and there's lots going on but it can be expensive. Islington has great bars and clubs, as does Peckham. Borough is good for restaurants and the market.

For more interesting London experiences try looking at some of the great entertainment websites out there, many have discounted offers. We use Design My Night, Londonist, Central Tickets and ShowFilmFirst most weeks. Travel is great and capped so shouldn't be too expensive. Have fun!

Check met police announcements of large-scale protests. They typically happen on Saturdays and can end with a bit of a kerfuffle.

Mercato Metropicano is one of my favourite hang outs but its really a summer place. What I love about about London is the imersive theatre and secret cinema's I've done which don't really happen anywhere else in the country. Should check the London timeout website

If you're spending a weekend in London you need a plan. As everything is so spread and you may need advance tickets or put on a guest list. If you take the "well head out central and see what hits us" you'll end up queuing for crap tourist hotshots in Leicester sq/picadilly circus and be very let down.

Remember the only defensive weapon you can legally carry in the UK is a rap alarm. Out of my 4 confrontations 3 of them they confronted the wrong guy! The 4th could of ended badly. Coming out of torture garden with my very d*unk partner and got lost trying to find the bus stop. Because aware of a guy on a bike following me. Started calling us freaks, made the mistake of catching his eye, he then whistled and 2 more guys on bikes started approaching. Luckily a guy stopped and asked if I needed a taxi. It was an illegal one and charged me £70 to get home . A legitimate taxi would have been about £10 but I've never handed money over so quickly

The only time I ever felt unsafe in London is when the riots happened, I had five grands of camera gear in a rucksack, and the police didn’t want to let me into Kings Cross station with all the other commuters because I guess I looked young and not like a commuter?
