I'd say spareroom might be your best bet for short lets. You might either strike gold or you can always just make a profile there for what you want. Good luck!

Online site called Spare Room is pretty good, you can put in ‘short lets’ as an option for whatever area you’re looking at, usually a few places that rent out on a short term basis

My old company used Airbnb to rent places for people coming to London for up to 6 months. Any temporary accommodation is going to be expensive tho… if you’re happy to share a house/flat that will be cheaper and spareroom is good for it. Don’t know if there’s many short term deals there tho…
