Moaning about why we send a wink

Why would I want to write a long ass message for it to get deleted, when I could send a wink first to see if we both want to entertain each other. No hard feeling ladies

A wink to me is like when you get that look that people give when they are interested, then you follow up with a cheeky line if you got the balls haha

I never send a wink unless the profile asks for a wink instead of a message as I feel sending a wink is lazy. I have received winks in the past from ladies or couples and when I have replied back thanking them for the wink we have exchanged messages and sometimes met up.

Because effort speaks volumes. It’s like profiles where the guy doesn’t even have a profile pic - it comes across as just lazy.

A wink is even more lazy than a 'Hi' message plus I'm not physic how would I know what the expected response should be

Am I just expected to wink back and then I'll receive the unimaginative 'Hi' message or am I meant to break the ice following the wink & do the legwork & send a thoughtful message based on your profile

If you send a decent message to people who are a good match it's much more likely to get a response than a wink is. Your choice.

When I get a wink back then I send a nice message ect, not just a hey or though that could be the opening line. You ladies get loads of messages so would probably free up your inbox if only people that have mutually winked message rather than go through 1000 of spam messages. Just saying but each to there own

Personally I like the wink feature, not once would it make me think a person is lazy or puts no effort in it just shows an initial interest and if reciprocated can lead... And in my experience, has lead to some great conversations with people.

The main problem here is that almost all the winks we get are sent by guys who haven't even bothered to read our profile. They have no idea where we are or what sort of guy we're looking for yet they still wink us despite our status and profile asking them not to. Why should we reply to anyone who chooses to do that? They do it so save their time yet expect us to waste our time telling them that if they'd spent a few seconds, they'd know not to bother. Ignoring winkers is entirely guilt free for us.

I agree with you mate. Wasted a lot of time messaging and got nowhere. I prefer to wink 1st, as a show of interest, after a wink back I will message.

I get the unimaginative messages but a wink back is just a button. If you get a poor response just delete.

For my own tw'pence, I think that sending a wink largely depends upon the profile of the person/people being contacted.

If the profile is a little short on detail, but there may be some potential - ie location and other basics - a wink is acceptable. But if the profile has obviously had some amount of care and attention given to it then a proper message is required.
