somewhere

I have 3 in my house working from home and myself going to my office as normal

2 of the 3 are all over the place ...dont get dressed..stay in pjs ...wander around ...eating...staying up late

The other one gets dressed as if going to work but then gets upset later in the day because shes stuck at home

We have to try to organise some sort of balance

Anyone work from home normally...whats your way of doing things

Been working from home for about 5 years. Different things work for different people but for me:

-sticking to a strict routine

-putting on make up and dressing like a functioning adult lady woman

-taking breaks and getting out of the house when i do

-having a designated work area and sticking to it

-writing to do lists every day and sharing them every morning with my colleagues who work remotely too

-using an app called clockify to track my time management (there are lots of others)

-putting all of my work stuff away at the end of the day to try and maintain some separation between home and work

I don't stick to these 100% all of the time. But I try to and I find they really help.

I should also add that there's a responsability on you and others to respect the boundaries of people now working from home.

People have always that because I wfm I'm free to go get coffee or pick up the dog from the vets or run over to this place to grab this thing etc etc. No. If people in your life are working from home than you have to respect that and leave them be!

your imagination

We've been doing things as normal, but in isolation as a family. Due to having vulnerable family members we've locked ourselves down since the schools closed last week. We still have 'school' at home, and luckily can also work from home. Kids aren't wearing school uniform, but nobody is slobbing about in pyjamas either. I normally live alone, but because of bizarre timing on this thing, I've now got 6 family members (3 generations) staying with me indefinitely. One room has been temporarily converted into a home office and those still working still go to 'work' each day in that room... We joke about traffic congestion if we bump into each other entering/exiting the 'office' and those not working are keeping the kids occupied with lessons, projects and gardening so that those working can do so in peace and make/take calls without it sounding like bedlam here. The only real issue we're having with working from home is with WiFi and mobile reception being a bit dodgy... But we're managing so far

I’m in almost exactly the same place... I’m regularly working from home, but now have two teenagers schooling from home and the Mrs too. Of the three, the adult has the been the worst adjusting

I’ve tried the following with moderate success this week.

- regular school week hours, waking and sleeping kept regular

- kitchen is only open for certain times, breakfast till 9 mid, morning snack (if necessary, lunch 12:30-1:30

- get some air and exercise, basketball dribbling, skip rope, kick the ball around, just a walk. Typically best after lunch.

- have one laptop between two kids, so needs a bit of respect for sharing

- just try to keep the routine and end the day same as their school schedule

It’s hella hard at times and there is this unknown variable of how long this all will last.

But ideally what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger.

Anyhow, good luck. 8 am is my time to get to work.... get off fab for a bit of time prior to the rest waking...

Oh and the clockify time keeping... very interested in that thanks to poster above for that suggestion

Good luck! Above all else always look on the bright side of life... a la life of Brian ... RIP Terry Gilliam... his twelve monkeys movie getting kind of close to reality... aside from the time travel and all that
