Restaurants pubs etc may aswell close. Put it this way, if people take heed of the warnings, avoid gatherings then there will be fuck all people in these places anyway so they will do nothing.

It took Ireland a few days to accumulate the same amount of cases Italy had after a week and look at the state of Italy now.. Total lock down.. 3500 cases diagnosed yesterday alone.. Next few days in Ireland will be very telling it should rocket into 100s of cases but then again Ireland is not a densely populated country so the numbers will be much lower than Italy or Spain for example.. Still worrying times ahead

It's not scaremongering, from what I have read the Government are estimating between 25% to 75% of The Irish population will get this. If it's the lower number 25%, 5% of those will need intensive care that's 60,000 people when there is only 277 Icu bed's available in the Country. If it goes the way Italy has Doctor's will have to make descion's who to treat based on age and chance of recovery. Some people will die simply because they are older. If that doesn't frighten people into taking this serious nothing will.

No one is being asked to hide indoors..they are being asked not to mix in groups. They are trying their best to stop this spreading further. Seriously staying away from pub's and parties is the least people can do. Why do people assume they know better then the expert's.

Not relaying message to public til tomorrow afternoon.

OP you are wildly overstating how difficult it is to just...not go to the pub for a few weeks. It doesn't matter if it's "something you enjoy". You're a big boy, have some self control and act responsibly.

Probably won't even matter if everything shuts down by government mandate anyway, but it amazes me that so many grown adults need to be almost physically restrained by daddy Leo rather than just take the initiate themselves for the greater good.

nothing to do with just the pub. People enjoy sport, training kids, matches with kids, playing games themselves, going to games, all gone for the foreseeable future. People are going to have too find new hobbies, even potentially things they have no interest in.

ahhh poor you. Instead of wallowing in your own self pity why don't you think about all the wonderful people working on the front line, people who like to go to the pub, people who play sports and train children, people who have hobbies and families. Lots of those people won't be able to moan about what they're missing out on as they'll be overworked while this crisis is ongoing. Why don't you volunteer to pick up shopping for elderly neighbours or visit them and chat to them through an open window.

This is honestly the most childish reaction to the crisis I've seen lately. Having to pick up a new hobby and give the others a rest for a while is a complete non-issue in the grand scheme.

If country went into complete lockdown cases would subside and get to minimal effect in a couple of months but I was told yesterday that Ireland depends on essential supplies from other countries through ferry and plane shipment. It also means you can still get out for a walk...keeping you immune system healthy is very important right now..eat well..lots of exercise and watch the intake of gargle and you will fight this thing. Watch your mental health too...being stuck in can grind you down, make you feel caged. Put on a coat and get out...beach walk..local walk..it's going to help hugely

Classic example of this were the reports of 4 young people being in critical condition at CUH as a result of taking deflamatory medicines such as nurofen...younger people are best positioned to beat this. That statement was 100% fabricated...pure scaremongering.

I remember he said 180k one night and another morning it was 90k

I was laughing. Sorry, it is serious but more people die every year from a seasonal flu around the world and WHO did not say a word its pandemic.

Be safe, think, dont panic
