Nothing more frustrating

What kind of parties are you trying to organize?

I've been organising parties for years there's a very simple formula to ensure they are a good night.

Pick a date.

Invite a few friends that you know will turn up

Then between you and your friends invite others that you and your friends have met or heard good things about.

In your opening post you say you wanted to organise parties as you were single and can do whatever you want but your latest reply you now refer to “we” and “us”??? By that I would assume there is someone else involved in the organising?

There is no one else organising if you read the posts properly someone suggested asking friends that you know to come and in turn then they may know people too

I did read the posts properly hence why I asked a simple question. No need to be rude

I didn’t accuse you in the wrong, I asked a question based on your reply

I really don't know what to say as I'm really not into organizing or attending house parties myself, so wouldn't even know where to start

we plan parties and the biggest disappointment is the no shows ... single gents cry and beg for tickets, and then don't both attending, even if they've paid to attend.

Vod is a great guy and knows how to host, so should have lots of ideas, but his best one, as he said is to charge, people r more likely to attend if they've paid for it ... and you can of coarse donate it to ur favourite charity, or spend a little to cover nibbles and new sheets etc lol

City centre

You may want to go to club nights and meet others and start from there

East / North, Cork

Weve organised parties big and small in the past. No invites for anyone not well verified. Overbook the single males. Trust your instincts and dont invite anyone who gives you a bad vibe. Have fun x

This

Laid is well known for years for his successful M&G's and parties in Dublin and beyond. The first M&G I went to in Dublin about 6 years ago as a single female was one organised by himself and another Fab lady.

North has given you the same advice on 2 other threads. Between these two guys they probably have at least 20 years experience in organising numerous successful parties and M&G's. Together myself and North have hosted a few good parties over the last few years so all below is my honest advice & opinion.

Other people have also given you some sound advice. You just need to sit back and work their advice to suit you. A party in your own home - start small, people you trust and are comfortable around 10-12 people is just as much craic as 30 or 40 (easier to clean up after too!!) Starting off with a small number of people you know also has the benefit of if they have a great night they mention it to others, and will come again and recommend others. Same can also work the other way around if they didn't enjoy themselves.

You said it's going to be a social party, people coming for a drink or 3 with option to play so a few questions you need to ask yourself.

Most importantly - your neighbours. Give them notice, especially if they have young kids that your having people over for a party. Obviously not a swingers party. A surprise birthday party for a friend, going away party- something believable just so they know to expect loud music late at night from yours.

Guest list?

Have I room to accommodate all these people over night?

Parking?

Rooms for play? kitchen is usually the social area

Local hotels or B&B if people don't want to stay ?

Food for party & breakfast the next morning?

Personally we would never charge people coming to ours. We are inviting them into our home. If you're renting somewhere for the night, yes as you cannot be accepted to cover all costs.

Get the basics sorted and organising gets easier each time

South xx
