Heaven in the Midlands

My job is a live-in situation, so no playing for 5 days. At least get 2 days off, but rare to organise a meet that comes to fruition.

It was tough op but you can get through it. You need to make sure you don't burn out, take breaks as and when you can. I did my Master's while working and also trying to spend time with the kids as much as possible, and it's a juggle

Helps if you really like both work and college

Never worry about allocating more importance to one or the other, OP. Balance doesn't necessarily mean 'equal'

If you stand up and lean forward you're still balanced, sure!

Best advice I could offer is to manage your energy, not your time. If you consider your daily routine or what you'd like/need to do then try and lend yourself to those situations accordingly.

Also, you'll find things should happen as they should more and more if you purposefully schedule them. So often it's a case of not remembering and letting other things get on top of us; don't be afraid to prioritise

Yah I have found prioritising been essential to gaining a work life balance in order tbh.

Its just stressful when u can do nothing in between.

I packed in the 40 hour week two years ago. Went on to the weekend shift and now have five days off a week to pursue interests and hobbies.

Despite the pay cut it's one of the best decision I ever made.

Life's too short to be spending your days not doing the things that motivate and stimulate you.

somewhere

It also helps if you stay off this during working hours due to the major amount of fabulous women and couples on it.

The pictures are just too distracting

I think it's never truly balanced until you can afford to cut the hours down or retire. It's more a ballet dance on a knife edge born out of necessity and is entirely personal based on what you want out of life. You will always be encouraged to "work hard" to get the things you want most out of life but in that respect I think they can only mean education. If you educate yourself to pursue a career in high paid employment then you can work less and enjoy life outside of work more.

Unfortunately bills, including student fees, means we need employment. The only real advice I could give would be to work as much as lets you enjoy yourself but not so much that interferes with your education and not so little that you can't go down your local every now and then
