Hi all,

May I talk about an observation made by myself on here.

I have noticed a trend of a small minority on here that I’ve developed what some may define as a ‘click’ per say.

The rest of the guys and girls are just innocent bystanders and some eventually are welcomed into these so called clicks.

I’m not complaining or anything but just wondering has anyone else noticed this?

Humans are social creatures, we develop relationships with people when we get a feel for them. We are naturally a little wary of strangers.

Would you walk into a bar and ignore those you knew and talk to total strangers instead?

I don't think there is. Yes some people chat on here daily and get to know each other. Others have met so therfore chat ect. But everyone was new here at some stage and in order to get people to talk to you then you have make an effort as well. I remember when I started using the forums I was a bit intimated but the more you use it the more people chat. It's like everything else you get out of it what you put in. People put this topic up regularly on all the forums and the answer is usually the same. Chat away have fun and people will chat back. X

They come and go, a lot are formed around personalities. It mimics how things happen in regular social circles, so don't worry about it overly.

I've been on fab for 3 years and only started posting in the forums a few months ago.

The best approach is to find a balance between only posting now and again so people aren't really aware of who you are and being a keyboard warrior.

Let people discover you and engage with everyone and that includes other men.

Be positive, be funny and most importantly be yourself.

If you are approachable in real life then let people see you are approachable in here too.

I think what your mostly observing is a mixture of people who actually do know each other (often intimately) mixed with white knights and sycophants... which gives the impression of a bigger grouping. Therr are plenty of people who just express honest opinion too though.

Just chip in with opinion and dont be a kissass and you'll do fine.

I see what you are saying. Chat and laugh with those you know though I am the type who would welcome others in the bar to join the group as its good to make new friends.

Though, if I and the rest of the group, continually ignore the other person, just continually bypass his/her comments and keep chatting to the people we know.......the 'stranger(s)' will stop making any effort to join in and leave the bar and find another bar with friendlier people.

Just my observation.

Then that's their choice. Perhaps their interaction simply doesn't appeal to anyone or they haven't given it enough time. There are those whose every comment is negative or critical, why would anyone invite that into their lives? We for one have enough going on in our lives, fab is for fun and other people's angst is their problem.

The stranger needs to chip in with something relevant/nteresting/different that will encourage a response

Either that or just be content that people arent responding because noone is obliged to.

I know that. No one is obliged to speak to others. I would just giving my observation.

I have tried several times to get 'involved' in the forums and believe me, after a while of adding comments and post being totally ignored and the previous post by a regular being replied to.....I very rarely bother anymore.

Everyone sees it differently but I have been on and off Fab for the past 7 years or so and it 'appears' to have more clicks than ever before but tbf not just in the forums as its the same in the chat room.

ignites minds to unite ...

I agree with you 100% , plenty of clicks here , each time you press a button on the keyboard there's a click .;-)

When I started posting few weeks ago , I started with games , both on Irish and UK formus , easy way to get to know people, have a few laughs, see how the forums work . Felling more comfortable now to jump on more serious topics.

Before that thought , the most clicking I've done was the "forum search" button , I call it Faboogle now.

I'm still very new , compared to some that have been here for years.

Don't be surprised that people who see eachother here on a daily basis will talk to eachother more.

On here, I could tell Reality to Bite my ass and he's going to come back with a smart joke or comment .

Feel free to speak but don't be a dick , soon you will see that only in your head was the imaginary click .

Whats more anoying about the clicks is when they carry their chats from one topic to the next and back again.

Clicks are just part of the fourms. As someone else said they come and go.

I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of people in the forums that I chat to privately and I've only met one of those so my interaction in here is about pure escapism from the daily grind and engaging with positive people. The only people I ignore are those full of negativity, and those with a demanding or antagonistic personality.

OP, don't let what you post or when you post be dictated by anything other than you wanting to.

The forums are nothing more than an extension and collection of each person's personality. If someone finds you worth engaging with, for lack of a better term, they will!

Whether it's your first post or your 100th, like anything else you get what you put in. What is so often described as a "clique" by some is nothing more than a friendship that's been developed

I understand what you mean though because I struggled in the forums on a previous profile.

It's very easy to misinterpret text though and it takes time and patience for others to get a sense of who you are and what you are about.

I’m not complaining or anything but just wondering has anyone else noticed this? "

I find I get a lot of interaction in private message when I post on the forums, from people who read forums but don't post. It gives them an opener for chat. I rarely chat privately with people that post on the forums. I find I have more private chat with people from the Irish chat rooms but I chat away in both when I want.

as others have said people will kind of group together (knowingly or unknowingly) and get to know each other off the forums. if you keep plugging away you will get noticed. at least it's not as bad as it used to be. one group would go out of their way to wreck people's threads, exclude them and make fun of them declaring it as "banter"

have hated that word ever since to be honest.

Pedantry for the win

From the outside what I've observed is that there are a lot, an awful lot, of transient people on fab. Particularly the 'wanna fuck?' brigade and the 'how does a single guy possibly get verified, I've been here ten minutes and haven't had a shag yet' crew who all come and go with great frequency. Why then would people who call this place home want to invest time and effort into someone who has the stickability of a post-it note in a strong breeze. People here get out and meet others in real life and then chat here to keep up. They aren't necessarily shutting people out as much as focused on folks they already know and know they like.

Exactly, nor do I see the logic of complaining about being excluded by supposed cliques, then denigrating the alleged clique members as "sheep".

"I'm pedantic sometimes and it appears this is one of those days.

Cliques is what we're talking about presumably.

Jaysus, it's like the old days all over again. It has to be my least favourite c word. Even cunt is better than it. Its also the most abused word here as well.

People generally find it easier to talk to people they know. That's life. It takes a bit of effort to get to know people and sometimes the effort pays off, sometimes it doesn't. Some people are only here to chat to their friends and that's not a crime either. Oh I don't know, it's only 8 45 am and I'm tired already.

Thanks McCarthy, for being pedantic: C L I Q U E, clique.

Thought first that this thread is about the 'fab my pic to enter the fuck lotto'.

That's so funny. Someone actually said that to me recently about the forums being clicky. But I'll say the same here as I did there....I haven't noticed it being clicky. Some ppl are more familiar than others and that shows in their comments and replies and obvious banter and kinda envy that as an outsider but as someone has rightly pointed out already you get back what you put in. I see lots of ppl come and go and I suspect that will always be the case and then there will be the regulars. I come and go and I usually hear ppl murmur ah Jesus here's that stupid prick Tex again but they'll never say it to your face so rest easy you'll never know who holding the knife lol.

All joking aside the forums are usually a bit of Craic and you can jump in on any topic or thread you wish ... or ever create your own but you'll always be welcomed and you only have to read some of the post to see how ppl go out of their way to help new comers in a variety of different way. This wknd meet and greet for non verified ppl is a good example and I'll take this opportunity to say fair play to all involved for giving their time.

Sheep are very sexy though.

Those fluffy little bottoms and the way they look at you, all suggestive like... Just sayin'.

Is this what my local butcher meant when he suggested a nice leg of lamb?

"Hi all,

May I talk about an observation made by myself on here.

I have noticed a trend of a small minority on here that I’ve developed what some may define as a ‘click’ per say.

The rest of the guys and girls are just innocent bystanders and some eventually are welcomed into these so called clicks.

I’m not complaining or anything but just wondering has anyone else noticed this? "

Dont notice a clique on the forums anyway maybe there is in clubs that members here frequent perhaps
