Ok so if your Irish you remember growing up and one of your parents shouting at you to make sure you turned off the immersion...God help you if it was heard bubbling away.

Anyway i was reminded of that this morning when I asked my 13 year why he wasn't wearing his blue socks with his school uniform. He told me that no one wears blue socks but all the lads wear white ankle socks showing about 3 inches of flesh above their shoes even in this weather.

I said you'll catch your death of cold and it just hit me thats what my mother used to say when I'd go out without a coat.

Its official I've turned into my mother

Yes of course, same mad talking to the animals like she does.

I wish I'd get her passion for housekeeping, but I guess thats's not going to happen.

I would say you could find a suitable housekeeper here very easily

To this day I can't leave the house without double checking that all the lights are off and all the plugs are out.

My father had me convinced that a blown bulb or a plugged in appliance could set the house on fire.

No, I've made the conscious decision to not become my parents.

Caught myself the other day hanging on to a piece of timber because it would make a good paint stirrer...the transformation to my father has begun
