robbed out of the lounge there

I was real bookworm when i was small. anything from enid blyton, roald dahl, asterix i was all over it. then harry potter came along in my teens.

My eldest is reading all these books now which is pretty cool. What was your fave book and character from childhood

Asterix was a favourite, then when I read them all in the library, I moved on to TinTin, where I discovered the Incas in the Temple of the Sun. That finished off with me having to get to Machu Picchu in 2012! Haha

I loved “the magic faraway tree” series when I was small. And then at about 13 I discovered “Jane Eyre”. There’s nothing better than getting lost in a really good book. I haven’t taken the time to read in ages. I really should sort that out.

I read jane eyre in secondary and i loved it. Emma was another novel we did. The Secret Garden was another favourite of mine. Im waiting for my witcher books and ill be digging into those

Oh my god yes. The list of books on the back so you knew exactly what to look for next. My birthday is a couple of weeks before christmas so i got one for the bday and and for christmas ans it was the best thing ever. Simpler times indeed

When I was a kid I absolutely loved "The magic far away Tree" series and I use to dream of living there.

Oh so did I they were brilliant. And the famous five as well. And the lion the witch and the wardrobe. I have always had a love of reading but it's hard now to find really good books I find. Kids books were so much more fun

And I have books everywhere: in my house, holidays home, any friends house, my parents house. I love them!

My fav as a child fairy tales of H Ch Andersen, then CS Louis series Chronicles of Narnia, Tolkien and all his adventurous books (my older sister has a scar when we organized a war lol), of course Harry Potter and romances Jane Eyre, Emma, etc. Next stage was S King, and Swedish authors...

I don't mind to read some professional books re medicine, physics, chemistry, biology, psychology, etc

You don't know when it will be an occassion and you might surprise some people

Lol, You spelled Encyclopedia right, but thats not what the book is called. I did a typo where the p was an e, but the rest was right. I'm not messing with you its a bit of a joke in the name they put in the pronunciation symbol instead of the spelling.

From my own childhood, Enid Blyton's books, the Just William series, Little Women series, and the World Book series which I could only access at my cousins' house, they were both boys and while they were doing boy things with my brother, I holed up in an attic cubby hole with the books.

Our own house was full of adult literature (no, not that kind!) and I read a lot of Bronte and Jane Austen. My uncle left behind a copy of "The Exorcist" which I read aged about 11, it traumatised me for years

My favourite books from reading with my kids are Roald Dahl's - clever, gross and full of life lessons. Revolting Rhymes always make me laugh "the small girl smiles, one eyelid flickers, she whips a pistol from her knickers"

Soon as I clicked post I thought "should have said bfg".

I actually asked for a Ken Doll when I was a kid and my dad was having none of it, his son wasn't gonna be playing with a doll. So he got me a fighter jet instead, you tilted it around and it made going faster and slower noises. I dont know what it was about that toy but it for sure made me straight.

ved The Famous 5 and Run with the Wind, the main character was a fox called Black Tip, the author was Tom McCaughran who was an RTE newsreader.

Before that The Sky is Falling Down, with Henny Penny, Goosey Lucy and Co.
