...down with something.

Curled up beside the stove with a hot poitin with lemon, honey and cloves. But it feels like there's an elephant sitting on my chest.

What's your favourite remedy when you're under the weather?

I ended up sitting for hours in a very cold community hall at a meeting last night. Hopefully the poitin and a good nights sleep will do the trick.

I know so many people who have had or have it right now and there is only one cure for it. As much water as possible, 2 paracetamol every 4 hours and plenty of rest. With that combination you’ll be right as rain within 4 days every time you get a cold.

Man flu is much different though. It’s definitely a life or death situation and should be treated as such

Tullamore

Prepare a good strong hot whiskey with cloves, lemon and brown sugar. Put about a foot of hot water in your bath. Get in, fill the bath with as hot a water as you can bare. Steep for 15mins. You should sweat like a demon. Dry off and go straight to bed. You should feel a lot better in the am.

Will you come over and run the bath for me?

Drink lots of water, hot water with fresh lemon and honey, ginger tea if you are nauseous. Paracetamol and as much rest as possible. Exputex if you get a cough.

Beyond that, time is the healer, if you're not feeling better in about 5 days you may have a secondary infection.

Just recovering from it myself.

Would love to. I'll dry you off and tuck you in too.

I had it a few weeks ago and dosed myself up with the usual over the counter stuff and promptly failed a drug test at work!!. Most if tge stuff we buy ( benylin, covonia, daynurse/nightnurse, solpadene contain opiates which shiw uo in a D and A test. So had to take a week off. Just be careful guys as you will most likely fail a roadside drug test as well.

Thank you all for the well wishes and advice. Taking the Benylin got me feeling well enough to remember to make myself a nice healing soup. I would always make this for my kids but never think of doing for myself.

The best medicine is a Chicken broth made using organic chicken, leek, celery and carrot. Simmer for a few hours. Drink it hot.
