Most smart tvs have the app built in and you just have to log in as normal to your account.

If its a dumb tv add a chromecast and its a smart tv

if your smart tv lets you run the app then sure. The virgin media box comes with the app installed too.

Are you signed into the app and can you see all your previous watched series etc. It sounds like the app software is on the tv but not updated or signed into.

When he logs in using his account are there lists of movies and series already up or is the screen just blank

In the side bar go into settings and the get help option..try reload netflix and if that doesn't work go into contact them section to get help

I'm just at house now. I saw a film on the list, selected it and it played perfect but when I go into search bar and type film names in, they won't come up
