Belfast

Not a bit.. I'm from south and my boyfriend is from north. I'm Irish and he identifies as British.

It sometimes comes into conversation between us and light hearted jokes, but I fell in love with him, not what he identifies as.

Now I live in Belfast, I would be rather careful with meets as not everyone is keen on our relationship whether political or religious. We don't care about either of those things, we just don't meet those who do!

I'm Irish from limerick and I have served in the Irish guards in England,,I had the same thinking of nationalies before I joined, the nicest blokes I met where prodasents guys,me from limerick two guys from galway and one guy from Dublin were in a platoon of 30 people, mostly English, I have to say we were treated very well and all got along, I understand completely about back in 1916,before and up to now, but its not the same anymore, obviously never forget the past but look to the future, u could be, white, black, brown, blue, yellow, Irish, English, catholic, prodasent,Muslim or whatever,if ur sound ur sound, and if ur a muppet ur a muppet, don't matter what ur race or religion

I don’t think Nationality or skin colour, background, address or County make a difference. It’s personality, like mindedness and respect for others choices that’s important especially in this lifestyle.

I also think it’s important to understand when someone enters this lifestyle too, so someone dipping there toe in for the first time v someone in the lifestyle for years have different nervousness and views about what they want.

Respect people’s choices and everything will work out well for everyone.

There are exceptions to every rule so if you foolishly believe that all people of one nationality are some sort of homogeneous group who all look and act in a specific way then you have some learning to do. Ethnicity might mean a bit more as it's usually a visible thing but then again, exceptions to every rule.

In my opinion thats the biggest cop out ever, and its a typical stance when applied to America "oh their goverment are war mongering shits the like the world has rarely seen.. but the people are nice"..

Nationality is a much bigger indicator of how much of an asshole you are than ethnicity. Jewish people vs Israel? Most Jewish people are not running over homes in diggers and shooting civilians dead, thats a nationality issue not religious or ethnic.

African child mines for car batteries? thats an african national issue, it is not a reflection of what a black american or black british person is like, just because their grandad came from that country.

Qatar using slaves to build stadiums? That has nothing to do with muslims as a group, thats a pure national issue, the people in that country wont put a stop to it..

Surely it's irrelevant here.

You're meeting with someone for fun. You want to get to know them somewhat but not their life story, as that's not part of the here and now.

You want to know their interests, their bedroom likes/dislikes, their general sense of fun things to do, if you're going to meet them more than once, so you can plan something for an activity before horizontal shenanigans but, if you are concerned how their nationality fits into all of that, methinks you are in the wrong place altogether
