Is it better to send a wink as a first contact , they will get back if they fancy what’s on your profile, as I texted some people started chatting ect got on ok , few days later I sent a hi text no reply , so is it better to just send a wink ? If they fancy a text they will reply to wink ,

My question is do you prefer a wink than a hi ??

My concern with a wink is they may just think I've something in my eye

Somewhere in Co. Down

Not usually but in saying that winks have lead to some great chats and meets on here as well. So I'd never rule it out. But I think mostly a lot ignore them. I must admit nowadays I don't look at mine as often as I use to.

To me a wink was always similar to a 'like' on any other social media.

Not necessarily an invitation to chat, but more of an acknowledgement that the sender liked your profile.

I think sending a wink as a means to open up a conversation is playing it too safe and could be seen as lazy.

While they're nice to get, I don't see them as being anything more than an appreciation of my profile.

Maybe I'm totally wrong in which case I've missed quite a few opportunities

Neither - I prefer an actual message

I often wink.

If I get one, I usually say Thanks or open a conversation with the winker.

I think they're a nice, subtle form of I Fancy You

We think by sending a wink shows we have looked and liked the profile and if they are interested they will send a wink back or message and then take it from there, nothing worse than sending a big long message to then just be ignored, we think a wink starts it off

A wink has led to more than one friendship on here for me, so I’m in favour!

One thing about the wink.... I genuinely wish there was a wink delete button.

Sometimes you see a wink from someone really nice looking, you wink back and then read their profile only to regret the fuck out of that wink and hope they never see you winking back..

We agree but then you just don't take it any further and leave it as that xx

Hoping that they don't notice it and not message you.

Even worse - after messaging, you ignoring them and them going to put up a new forum thread about "why do people wink and never message back"

If we wink and they don't reply we would never wink again x the same with messages if we get no reply we leave it at that x
