Hey all. Heading out the door to collect my better half shortly but earlier she sent me a msg to say she's seen a homeless man coming out from under his cardboards and standing up and jumping up and down hands flapping so as to try and keep himself warm. Isn't that a terrible thing to witness in this day and age? Like christ it's another human being. Sad awful society we live in. If your out and about today, try and help in some way. I know I will. Thanks folks.

A homeless man died recently in Derry and fb has him all over it with people saying how he was a gentleman and they have raised funds for his burial which is good to see, but what angers me is why wait till the guy was died to do something for him. We have people in government in NI that get paid 70/80k plus that havnt worked for the people in 3 years. And the problem of homelessness only gets worse and especially at this time of year. Sorry rant over, but it pisses me off.

Apart from voting for change the best thing to do at present would be to buy some new jocks/white sports socks/hats / gloves /scarfs pennys are great and drop them into your nearest shelter or charity

They'll cost you the price of a round of drinks and make a massive difference

Any time I visit Belfast I buy a sandwich and a cup of tea or coffee for a homeless person.

I don't give money as they might use it for drink or drugs.

Anyone know where the homeless shelters are in belfast, ards and bangor?

People cared more about aborting their babies, Sending our Navy to ship migrants into Italy against their wishes, and bringing a member of the muslim brotherhood back to ireland on the presidential jet.

Meanwhile we cant build affordable houses near politicans houses because it might upset the fucking geese.

Where I shop there is usually a man there who is homeless. I always get him something to eat or give him a few pound. He' so polite and nice he says he just doesn't have anywhere to live. It's so sad in this day and age that people end up in this situation. He gets to stay in a shelter some nights but often he doesn't get there in time and spends it where ever he can.

As long as we have corrupt politicians and politicians who are landlords nothing will be done to solve the homelessness issues in this country

I can't understand that comment about politicians being landlords being the problem .

If they were landlords they would reduce the crazy 52% tax that has pushed property owners out of the rental market which has lead to the rental shortage.

Guys its more than just having a roof over their heads. Ask the social workers that deal with this everyday, it's mental health, addiction etc. It wont be solved by building houses alone, it needs a more integrated approach.

Maybe 10 years ago. But these days there are like 3000 kids homeless lots of them with their families, lots of them with no addictions or anything.

First thing they need to do is get stability for everyone in a way that communities can thrive.

But they tear down communities all the time, look at the inner city, community after community torn apart.

When you have a shortage and great demand you can charge what you like and will have no problem getting new tenants and it's highly unlikely they are paying the rental tax

Maybe just maybe if we all dont go out on the lash for one night, instead find a local charity that help the homeless. Make a donation of underwear,socks, toileteries and a few goodies like chocolate, biscuits. Sounds like a lot??. Well for € 30 or €40 you can buy an awful lot of stuff in penneys ,lidl or aldi.
