Hi can someone please help me i am a single woman with my own house i have no ties i live half an hr from belfast its all motorway except for the last 10mins yet i cannot seem to break into the party scene i have put numerous posts up advertising and only replies i get are from single guys peole moan about not getting invities to parties yet when one is advertise they wont come i am a single girl with my own house i should be having parties every weekend lol

You really bloody should!

I work all weekends and we have the kids every second weekend, so attending any kind of parties is extremely challenging for us unless we organize something like that way in advance (sometimes we're planning something for months and life just happens last minute), but I can't see how it could be the case with everybody- as all I ever see around here is "any plans for the weekend" and "how was your weekend" surely there's enough of a crowd to fill in the weekend party spaces...

Hi! I would suggest starting with a more casual gathering. Invite a few friends that you can rely on and maybe one or two newbies and build from there. Smaller parties can be great fun xx

Yes _eltic cpl thats what i heard when i first joined fab and thought great this will be a breeze but not so i just dont understand people they moan about not having anywhere to meet or not getting invities then when you do they wont come lol i have always advertised my parties as no pressure to play if you just want to come and have a few drinks and a bit of craic thats fine but equally if you want to play there is the option lol

I help my friend host parties in Glasgow. We have found that alot of men are all talk and no action so best to invite more than needed in case of no shows. Our parties are pretty successful but are always planned well in advance.

We know exactly where you coming from , we even tried the odd social and were even inviting unverified to the socials to help them along and the response was poor, so nowadays we are just thinking of ourselves and going outside of Ireland for fun and are sorry we didn't do it sooner

There was a recent thread about the success rate of posting meets and it was pretty much zero. You’ve got some lovely people (I assume lol) interested here. Pick a date and private message and see how it goes. We’d say yes...just saying.... and if all else fails we could sing karaoke lol!!!

Perhaps start by inviting people you have previously met for a small social in your house. If people ask who is going dont tell them, and just get a male/female/couples balance. If you have previously chatted to the people you will know their interests & whether they may get. A dozen people, some finger food and party on.

I'd second this... It's much easier to put a nice group who will gel well together if you've already met and know people. I see from your veri that you attended a M&G, so I would assume you'd made a few friends and contacts there.

On the other hand, I don't agree with not telling other guests who is going. I personally won't attend anything unless I know in advance... A house party is quite an intimate setting, so who would want to find themselves in a room with 2 or 3 people you've previously had to block from contacting you, or even worse, to find yourself suddenly, unwittingly, and very uncomfortably in the middle of an bad atmosphere between 2 or 3 other attendees who have a previous history and don't get along with each other? Believe me... That's no fun for anyone.

Same as when we used to do parties, once the guest list was sent the only change would be if someone dropped out, never done last minute additions

Human nature/ego. People want what they can't have and then when they can have it, they don't want it. I think a lot of people just enjoy the chase itself or having their ego stroked then when they achieve that they move unto the next one.

The rule of thumb for any fab event tends to be that if you have 10 women invited then you need to invite 30 guys and then you might get 10 actually show up. I’ve run a couple of socials and this is what I had to do and I’ve been to club nights and parties that had to do the same.

We tend to send direct invites to our parties and daisychain off verifications from people attending. That way, people are more likely to mix well, if they have friends in common. Likewise, we ask the guests to suggest single guys, as they're much more likely to turn up.

Random meet posts, seldom seem to succeed.
