Greatest band ever. What's your opinion?

Jump to newest

Okay, so just curious. What's people's opinion on their favorite band or groups ever. I'm gonna start it off by saying hands down, nobody comes close to "Queen" and Freedie Mercury for me. They sound better live then most bands sound in the recording studio. Absolute hands down the best band EVER! If you have doubt look up " Somebody to Love" live from Montreal on YouTube. Greatest live performance I've ever heard.

Whats your eyes thought an opinion?

South Dublin Area

U2 - Its hip to slag them off but they have spanned a lifetime and still at the top, when their rivals have gone by the waste side. The direction taken with Achtung Baby was simply ground breaking.

Radiohead - You can make a strong argument that The Bends or OK Computer are two of the greatest albums ever.

Obviously most people's opinion on their own favourite band is going to be that they are the best ever My fav band is Pearl Jam and even though they frikkin awesome I wouldnt say they are the best band ever..there are a lot of other great bands like the mentioned Queen who are pretty awesome too.

Depends on the mood..

Sometimes Fleetwood Mac to chill (would have loved to have seen them live back in the Rumours era)

Or Thin Lizzy to get revved up

My only live memory of Queen was sitting on the couch watching Live Aid. Was something special OK

U2 can be amazing and not so amazing live.

Radiohead have some moments of magic live but they fade in and out when.

However, by far the most breathtaking experience I've had was seeing/ hearing The Cranberries at the Point (as it was then called). The roof almost came off, not just with Delores singing but also Noel Hogan's guitar playing.

Now if Oasis ever return I may edit this post lol

Ohh Jesus to narrow it down to 1 band,,

Not sure that is possible,

Pearl Jam are my go2 band from 92 till now and they still rock,

And are better live than recorded,

Then again I had the pleasure of seeing the Allman's Bro Band many times and that is a live band hard to beat, 3 sets of drums, 15 min solo,s, crowd going wild,

Greatest band ever,, is there such a thing,

I'm sure people here will say Oasis or Radio head, seen both, 1 are dickheads with 5 at a push decent tracks, the other are ok ,,, if you want to cut yours wrists while listening to tunes,, lol

But each to their own,

Led Zeppelin are up there also.

Not sure I could name the best band but I can certainly name the band that most suits me and what I’m doing at the time.

Biking (MTB). Primus.

Working. Pantera.

Happy. This week it’s been Anthrax. It changes.

Sad. Paradise lost. The early stuff.

Angry. This week it’s been early slayer.

Sex. House of pain but not jump around. That’s silly.

I dont think any band comes close to being as influential, or seminal to as many different music genres as The Beatles. Abby road is over 50 years old and still sounds as polished as if it was released today.

Maybe Elvis, but he didn't really create anything new. He was just charismatic enough to introduce gospel/rock'n'roll music to whiteys.

AC/DC number 1 spot

Closely followed by, in no particular order:

Metallica

The Black Crowes

Rudimental

Bell X1

"Is thread looking for peoples opinion or to galvanise your love of Freddie Mercury?

Take who you wish

It's just asking peoples opinion on their favourite, and I'm giving you my opinion on Pantera and the fact they don't come close in my opinion "

Opinions are like arseholes, full of shit.

No point asking people which band they think are the greatest, if you going to give them stick over their choice.

cavan town

Thin Lizzy, they influenced so many other great bands, metallica, iron maiden, Motorhead, slayer.

They did a tour with queen, the "queen Lizzy tour" even the great freddie mercury was annoyed that Lizzy constantly stole the show during that tour, asking for their set to be cut short and for their volume to be turned down.

Yeah, Lizzy all the way
