"All in all Ireland were just out played by Japan. No shame in that but Japan were simply better and more hungry. Ireland were worthy losers. They didn't to too much wrong but didn't have the right game plan for the 2nd half to defeat a fitter Japan. Pack muscle was shown to be a busted flush and they didn't have a plan B apart from kicking for field position." Trying to figure was I watching a different match as you and OP. Ireland were poor particularly in the second half, too many penalties, poor discipline. Too many mistakes on scrum, line outs, poor tackles not stopping japan attackers. It was a poor performance. Full credit to Japan they were the better and more committed team. There should be no excuses when you lose only that you were beaten by a better team.

"I think the tougher the opponent's...the tougher Ireland get..they raise their game big time..." Thats no way to win a world cup though. Mentally weak. I can see their minds in a panic that they might have to face the all blacks now, cowards.

"The media had Ireland already in the final. It’s no shame to lose a game, no doubt you’ve all forgotten the hammering they took against England. From what I could see more than a few Japanese players didn’t look ‘Japanese’ so maybe we weren’t beaten by Japan after all. " Fair few non Irish playing for Ireland too, rule applies to all so level playing field. Ireland just ain't as good as people think, never been to a semi of what is effectively a six team tournament. Expectations need a check but the media storm never allows it.

All the South African are genetically south african? What about the white people on the NewZealand team? Stander is south african isnt he?

People need to stop acting like a world cup final is bread and butter stuff for this team, and the only team they need to avoid is NZ they will beat everyone else easily. They do great for a bunch of private school heads who don't seem to be genetically blessed with any adavantages, (except toner who was left at home).

Except for the “bunch of private school heads”. It’s a common miss-placed view. The last stats I saw showed that 46% of the last 100 players capped came from fee paying schools. So the majority of the Irish squad (over the last 10 yrs approx) aren’t in fact from private schools.

But 16% of the team is not born in Ireland, so of the people born and raised in Ireland, the majority are a bunch of private school heads. And we all know the private schools blocked steroid testing at school level, something they do in England and something that will get a school level rugby player in England a lifetime ban if caught.

So you have to remove 16% of the squad out of the analysis, just to make your comment work?! It’s a bit unconvincing having to do that. Not sure how steroid testing is related ??!!
