I came across the new bridge being built well its built lol between waterford and wexford the other day.

Firstly omg the flipping height of it how the hell do they get it stable and going across what looks to be an extremely deep river with no support in the middle.? Saying all of that when it opens its a quick an easy route from Waterford to Dublin for me for my jobs so looking forward to that.

But honestly I haven't seen a bridge so high up and across in my life. Il be crapping myself driving over it. Ps whats the full route on it

Yea, the New Ross bypass.

Longest type of of its design in world

Will be impressive alright, but rather not be driving a truck during high winds

Named after Rose fitzgerald Kennedy. Check out the roads thread on boards.ie for pics videos

your imagination

I think I read in the local papers that it holds some kind of design record in Europe.

It's similar in design to many I've seen in the US, but I'm not keen on crossing those either

However the Enniscorthy bypass has shaved 30 mins off travel to anywhere north of Enniscorthy for me... So quite happy about that!

Its the longest of it type in europe not the world! I didnt think that section of the road was open yet though. Did the op maybe mean the bridge on the waterford bypass rather than the new ross bypass?

At 887m long the “extrados” type bridge – a combination of cable stay and pier support – is, according to builders Bam Ireland and Spanish firm Dragados, the longest of its kind in the world and the longest of any kind in the State. The 887m length compares with 866m for the length of the Foyle bridge in Derry, and just 465m for the river Suir bridge in Co Waterford.
