Hi I am wondering if people have ever encountered that peoples email address which they use to correspond with other swingers is actually linked to their own personal Facebook accounts?

yes.

I guess it's only a problem if their FB profile is not set on private? or do you mean that you know their real name now?

I guess if they do this they trust you that you don't take advantage of it? Would also be nice if you don't contact their family on FB and tell them where you've met their daughter lol

nice try lol

How about being honest and helpful and telling them that their profile is public?

I've told a guy about this before and gave him the steps to set it up the way he wanted.

Well Bbw when I actually meet one couple i then notified and showed them the same procedure! Needless to say they changed to a more discreet email and made facebook pvt! On the flip side I corresponded with one cpl and after exchange of face pics they said and I quote "your a we'd bit tubby for our liking" thus they never got the same treatment as the couple I meet!

Not sure the private/public view is relevant here.

Its more to do with what email addresses you give facebook and who has that email address as then facebook will give your name as a suggestion to them.

Depending on your privacy settings, they can view your full profile or just see your name and one profile pic (I think).

As an example.

I chatted to on MSN a lass a few months ago. As I had mistakenly given facebook that MSN address, it offered my name to the lass as a friends suggestion.

Needless to say, that MSN address has been removed from facebook, lol.

I don't give my msn to many people so I don't care if they know my full name. My FB profile is set on private so all they can see is my name and a picture.

But I've given the wrong one too by mistake. I've tried to change the email association on FB but all you can do is ADD emails but not remove any. Or do you know a way to do it?

Hey BBw sorry if this may seem harsh but have you what I call a swing email address? If so then it should be 100% safe and not lInked to any personal data facebook or other wise! Hope this is of help!

"I've tried to change the email association on FB but all you can do is ADD emails but not remove any. Or do you know a way to do it?"

Top right, press the arrow down, account settings, click on edit thats alongside 'email' and you should see remove next to any additional email address you have there. If you only have one, you can add another and then delete the original.

we've had emails addresses that the person used for facebook and they didn't realised that they were giving access to their personal details, and to their friends and family, and that the person they gave the email addy to could then mail their family and show them pics they put up here - we've had the same done to us luckily we managed to persuade our friends' that JJ was emailing me the pics and the mail got highjacked

i am more bothered about someone posting that they have found they have access to someones details in this way, but instead of telling the user, state they havent contacted anyones family YET....

why would you feel the need to contact anyones family anyway?

why would you feel the need to look at someones facebook?

we got sent someones actual facebook details, and refused to look as that side of things is nothing to do with us.

no interest about someones family/friends or outside activities, so why would it interest you at all?

Makes it very easy to spot fakes though, when you're chatting to a local girl who's very keen to meet - but then their email brings up a Facebook page for a 50yo man in London or something

You would be suprised at what lengths people go to once they have had a knock back.

Let's be carefull out there.

I've had this happen to me this week! A guy kept asking me for my email address & foolishly I gave it to him. He messaged me stating to me where I lived. The only way I thought he could of accessed my address was through my fb account (same email address) as that did state my hometown on my profile & my info was available for everyone to see (I have now changed the privacy settings) I asked how he knew my address -he said he'd guessed it! He has since admitted he entered my email address into a directory (I won't name it as I don't want others to do the same), this directory gives all details: name, address, phone number, electoral register &

much more info! What annoys me though is his dishonesty & the fact that he now has my address!

A play email is as essential as is a play phone.

Keeps the playing from your everyday life and avoids a third of the problems we read about in the forums.

Message me if you need help with either

He actually turned up at my door, making out he was looking for someone else! Freaked me out big time! I have most definately learnt from my mistake, I did consider coming off this site altogether but why should I, I will just be more careful in future & I won't be giving my email address out to anyone in future
