All animal sports should be banned absolute cruelty at its highest. Using animals for human entertainment is sick...

100% agreement there, lots of people are making money with some cruelty to animals, all type of shows with animals should be stop, main problem is how they might be trained behind doors.

So you're saying they shouldn't have broadcast it?

I'm saying there is worse stuff happening that they know about that they will never ever air.

Obviously some politician wants to stop giving them the money, so told RTE to run the story. When the tax money is taken off them, it wont be given back to us, it will go into some politicans pocket.

Rte dont really care.

Thing is a working/race/etc. dog are very hard to rehome, I bred show shows and for family pets and if i find a major flaw in the dog i just give the dog away for free but on the understanding that it has to be spayed/neutered before the aninal leaves my yard and the dogs pedigree/papers be distroyed and notify the kennel club

If the dog isnt up to scratch, there getting out down, its cheaper. Greyhounds are basically classified as live stock, don't hear anyone defend what happens calfs, lambs, 2 week old chickens etc... In my twenties when i was in college i worked in a abattoir for 2 years, the smell of fear and death took awhile to get used to..

I didn't see the doc but we have known for years about cruelty to greyhounds

I'd rather they were shot out the back than sent to China to be boiled alive and eaten which is what we also do

Of course it has everything to do with people in Ireland, sure is it not the trainers from Ireland sending the dogs over there cause they have no use for them anymore!! I hsve never been to a greyhound track but I'll never go after seeing that the other night, i just hope that all the trainers etc featured in the documentary are extremely punished by the law to set an example so that no one else will ever do that stuff again !!

I know someone who has been involved in greyhounds all there life. I'm not surprised one bit by the documentary, the export stuff to foreign countries was a bit shocking but I know there is a lot worse going on in Ireland in regards to hate hunting and treatment of greyhounds

Haven't seen the program.

Did visit Vietnam years ago and on a long bus ride, saw occasionally a dog in a cage. Always a yellow/ golden labrador type.

Only discovered later that they were the ones being kept for the main course after a prodigal son/daughter returned from college or the big smoke and celebration of a successful exam/job.

Different cultures, different attitudes.

Who judges whether it's wrong/ right?

They showed that china have no welfare regulations for dogs and showed some disgusting things they do to them... because a few greyhounds that raced in ireland ended up over there rte and anti racing groups are trying to make irish greyhound owners cruel sick horrible people to the public

If a china person wanted to buy my dog, and I came on here and said "Should I sell them my dog? what if they eat him?" id be blocked by half the site for being racist.

Also I thought we were supposed to respect other peoples cultures. Leo for example is okay with women being told to cover up by some cultures, so I should be okay with some cultures eating dogs? DO I have to come on here and ask the liberal people which part of a culture is okay and which is not?
