What absolute filth to fly the trump blimp over the garden of remembrance on this day the 75th anniversary of the D-day landings where young men lay down their lives to fight against the nazi machine. Absolute filth with no regard for anyone that has even the slightest difference of opinion to themselves. Anyone think I'm out of order feel free to block because if you think that this is an appropriate protest in an appropriate place then I would have zero time for you.

You're quite entitled to feel that way , but don't forget that those brave people gave up their lives so that people could express their opinions freely

You do know the garden of rememberance is dedicated to all those who gave their lives in the cause of Irish Freedom. It has nothing to do with ww2 or D day or any other foreign war.

I can't help but feel angered by events like that , but , that is what those men fought for . Freedom of speech and expression. Though it seems if you don't agree with the far left , your as bad as the men those hero's stood up against in the eyes of what seems to be an ever growing spoiled child parade . I worked security as a nixer for a few years in a well known lively small city . And the social justice crowd undermine the legitimacy of a difference in opinion with their victimisation and total lack or respect for anyone but them selves .

Rant over haha

I'm surprised trump didn't say there was good people on both sides of ww2 like he did with the neo Nazis in Charlottesville

Could possibly just be making the connection of fallen soldiers and not the actual gardens significance

"Could possibly just be making the connection of fallen soldiers and not the actual gardens significance "

But he's taking offense because of where it was and connecting it with world war 2/ D day. Which of we can take offense to things to suit ourselves then I'll take offense to people using the garden of remembrance as a remembrance of ww2

Why do people find it necessary to give out about Trump. It would be more in their interests to give out about the wastes a space we have in government currently. How is he going to effect the way we go about our day to day life’s.

Sometimes and not taking away from your sentiments OP, however sometimes I just feel Fab is not the place for these kind of thoughts. There’s plenty of other platforms for these kind of things and this is the second one I’ve read tonight. Fab is not the real world and I feel we should keep these and political threads for other places.

One of the most powerful people on the planet is a climate change denier and refuses to even discuss what we might do to save the planet we live on and you think he can't affect our day to day life?

That's without even mentioning his giving legitimacy to people with similar bigoted opinions to his own in relation to non white English speaking Christians.

Obama lost most of their influence around the world.

Their stance on climate change was ignored by the whole world, time was they were the policy makers of the world, but even china who makes their products and is is now allowed pollute more due to trump shrugged and said no.

At the end of the day he might have saved done the planet good, as its given american power providers room to breath and none of them see his stance as final.

Lol fuck off with that "difference of opinion" bollocks, when people here lose the will to protest neo-fascism and its actors is when we should start to worry. And I doubt the protesters would be too bothered by all the flaccid, illiterate geriatrics here calling them unwashed welfare sponges. They seem to be too busy actually spending their time in worthwhile ways, so save your energy lads.

Also conflating the garden of remembrance with the d-day landings is just stupid at best, borderline insulting at worst. Do better buddy

The garden of remembrance is for those who died for Irish freedom "buddy" and no more was Irish and European freedom more at risk than during world war 2. Protest neo fascism and neo nazis all you wish but to lump everyone without a left lean as either is absolutely fucked up. This is how things are going whether your blinkers allow you to see this or not buddy.

Regardless of what you think these are the only conflicts remembered by the garden of remembrance (copied from wiki)

The Garden commemorates freedom fighters from various uprisings, including:

the 1798 rebellion of the Society of United Irishmen

the 1803 rebellion of Robert Emmet

the 1848 rebellion of Young Ireland

the 1867 rising of the Fenian Brotherhood

the 1916 Easter Rising of the Irish Volunteers and the Irish Citizen Army

the 1919–21 Irish War of Independence of the Irish Republican Army

What do you think you're going to gain by saying stuff like that in the Irish forums?

I'm not condoning any of the actions on either side of the troubles but there wouldn't have even been an IRA if there wasn't a foreign oppressor.

The garden has nothing to do with WW2, plain and simple. And I'm sorry but who's lumping "everyone without a left lean" into those categories? This is specifically about ol' Trumpydink. You don't even know what your own thread is about.

looks to me like someone got offended by something they had no clue about and is now trying to win an argument by shouting louder than everyone.
