Speeding fines in Ireland

Jump to newest

Today I was on my way to Limerick when a policeman waved me down with a speed gun.. He then said I was doing 72 kilometres in a 50 km zone.

I was driving at 45mph. I told the officer that i haven't got kilometres on my van and only miles per hour.

Anyways he said I have to wait two months to hear about it.. So now I'm wondering if I will get points and a fine

Yeah, cant see you avoiding it when you admitted you were over to them.

I mean you can do the usual and contest it, and look to see if the stuff was calibrated blah blah the way famous/rich people do it.

Anyway if you get fined, just drive up to court, get out, leave the doors open, walk in, throw the money at them and walk out.

Two months more like two weeks u should get a notice with a fine nd three points once u pay within 28 days, if u fail to pay the fine goes up again u have another 28 days after that u will be sumonsed before a court if u loose the points double Nd the judge determines the fine

And usually you have to hand in your insurance within 10 days of being caught otherwise you can be done for driving without insurance...

You can’t get points on a Uk licence if your caught in the south and vice versa neither do you have to pay the fine it only effects you if your caught in the same country as your license was issued you might get the letter but if it’s ignored you will get a few more then just stops and all is forgiven

I bet anyone anything he hears nothing about it

Irish cops are just Irish men and they really couldn't give a fuck

They genuinely don't follow thru with half the shit they write in the book when they get back to the station because they couldn't be arsed

What I find rather fascinating that someone thinks a speedometer with a miles scale only would work as an excuse for speeding in a country with km speed limits.

Yea penalty points in roi apply to both uk and roi licences so id imagine a speeding fine is too..you should learn what mph is in kmph its not rocket science..50km is 30miles...80km is 50miles and 100km is near the 60miles mark..its simple enough..just pay the fine and know better next time..your vans speedo is a poor excuse
