They are horrible. I wish they weren't but they are. But there is an alternative...........NO STRAW. Like really. Do you need a straw ? 99% of time......no.

Try getting through a regular size strawberry milkshake with a paper straw!

Halfway through, you feel like your practising for the cunnilingus Olympic medal

"Much better for the environment ..tho I'm left with a soggy tip..guess I'm a slow sucker "

And yet still the plastic lid and plasticised paper cup.

They are a load of bollocks and I say that definitively after having my first experience of one tonight.

Definitely the best way.

You'll get your reward after all that effort and it will be bountiful

Don't tongue the straw and it won't taste bad. I'm disgusted when pubs still use plastic ones.

Plastic ones are better for the environment. It causes more pollution to make paper ones. Also disabled people, elderly, and sick people are at a health risk using metal ones.

The only thing that needed to be done was to make the plastic ones degradable or fully recyclable.

Plastic is made from byproduct/waste from oil/gas. What do you think happens that waste if its not used for plastic? straight in the sea.

Totally agree dreadful to drink from - It’s all a gimmick jumping on the band wagon

In fast food outlets I think

Why can’t they just have a few bins.

Unused food

Plastics bin for straws and lids off drinks

Paper cups

Paperbins

Its great that people are taking the issue of single use plastic seriously, well, it's a start. I use metal straws at home.

I use those new plasticised £20 notes. Always 1 in me wallet; take it out; roll up; use it; wipe down; put back; Done. Simples.

"Adults drinking from a straw lol"

White teeth don't grow on trees.

Also a lot of adults have sensitive teeth.

Many reasons for adults to drink through a straw, now give me one good reason why you find it funny.

I associate children drinking from straws not adults in a pub or nite club

"Adults drinking from a straw lol"

I know loads of adults who have to use a straw to drink due to a disability. Most of them have managed to find alternatives to single use plastic.

"Adults drinking from a straw lol"

There are people that unfortunately DO HAVE to drink from straws and it's no laughing matter
