This is very serious and i am taking a big risk here that i will be ridiculed but it has to be said...

More than 1 person has come to us in confidence saying that over the last number of weeks they have picked up a very nasty STI. I would urge anyone who has been active meeting on fab to do what we have done and get tested. We were clear but others have not been so lucky. Also people need to remember it can be picked up from oral very easily and most importantly it is silent and most people wont have symtoms..

Did they say they picked it up from me by any chance?

(Never had an STI in my life, neither have I met anyone new for a long time, just heard some fun stories about myself and people I "meet")

Kudos to those who had the decency to inform you. Not all do. That does make the case for regular testing though... Some will never tell you they've put you at risk, so it's always better to keep on top of these things yourself

I go every six month's as I think it's good to look after your sexual health.

The last time I attended the clinic based in Portlaoise hospital the nurse told me that the increase of Stds has increased dramatically. She also mentioned that I was the only one attending that evenings clinic that was not presenting with symptoms.

It's ridiculous that more people don't get tested regularly. In most cases an STI can be quickly and effectively treated, but if someone isn't even bothering to get themselves checked, they'll just keep passing on the infection and possibly even reinfecting repeat partners. For those afraid to attend clinics or who don't have a clinic nearby, your local GP will also complete tests in complete confidentiality! There's no excuse!

From my own personal experience attending Portlaoise it was very easy and straightforward. Called for appointment it usually takes three weeks to for a appointment. Results will be giving two weeks after. It's ran my midwives who are very professional and put you at ease immediately. There is no excuse not to get checked regularly

Not only swingers should get tested.

People in general who have sex.

Health is not something we should joke about.

Also, by going to the doctor did I find out my ex was cheating on me.

Symptoms were none.

Fair play to OP for posting.

Also giving and receiving oral you can contract STI.

Minor chances but possible.

In Germany you cant give BJ without a condom on.

That's a risk you take when non-monogamous, regardless of where you meet people. It's best to presume that anyone could be infected and take what you consider to be reasonable precautions as well as getting tested regularly.

Finally a wise word without scaremongering.

Being a witness as well as a victim of a lot of accusations I noticed a pattern. Someone falls out with someone else, upset party shouts "watch out, STI", everyone starts whispering about it. Even worse when accused person doesn't have it - there's literally no way to prove it and when they try to deny it - they're just looked upon at as biggest lying scumbags.

If everyone would just act as a grown up and took their own precautions instead of listening to rumours - world would be a better, less scary place.

I only had my first test after I turned 40 (before I started swinging). I had just started dating again after 15 years and was booking my smear test with my GP and thought fuck it, I'll get screened too and make sure everything is OK. It was, and I've scheduled regular appointments since. She laughed at me last time because when she asked how many partners I'd had since my last test, I realised I'd only had sex on two occasions since my last one, and both times were with my long-term fwb But she also knows there have been times where I might have had sex with 3 or 4 different partners aside from him within a 6 month period. I have to admit, my GP is excellent. She's completely non-judgmental, really knows her stuff and offers excellent advice, and some of my conversations with her have really made me think about how idiotic some of our approaches to sex, and particularly what we assume is 'safe sex' really are.

Condoms don't prevent the spread of infection. Getting tested and making sure you haven't got one does.

She's completely non-judgmental, really knows her stuff and offers excellent advice, and some of my conversations with her have really made me think about how idiotic some of our approaches to sex, and particularly what we assume is 'safe sex' really are.

Condoms don't prevent the spread of infection. Getting tested and making sure you haven't got one does."

Very well said

Wouldnt it be great if there was an instant test like for drink driving etc for STI's. Would eliminate the risk.

Interesting how many on the forums have mocked and laughed at my insurance on asking any one I meet if they are willing to show me their last two test results. I have mine going back at least 3 yrs. Been told it's rude or none of my business by forumites. I feel anyone not willing obviously doesn't take my health seriously let alone theirs and could be hiding something.

"After reading this we are seriously thinking about leaving fab we get checked every 3 months in our GP to have some on here not getting checked and passing STI on is not right

That's a risk you take when non-monogamous, regardless of where you meet people. It's best to presume that anyone could be infected and take what you consider to be reasonable precautions as well as getting tested regularly."

I'd add to that, know who you're playing with too. You're only safe and clear the day of your test. Like the not, good only for that day. Some things show up after 3 months and appear after your 'clear' test.

As a bisexual man people seem to think we dont protect our selfs.

People on here blab about being tested when their profile is full of bjs and cum facials. Some have written on their profiles if you cant kiss good dont contact us again another way of catching something.

So getting tested for owl paddy down below or mary down below. Doesnt stop you getting anything from oral sexual contact.

Then you have the Chinese whispers among couples or single females if they have a fallen out with someone they tell porky pies as in steer clear they have this that and the other!! Some have bin ruined on here for that false information being thrown around.

So if people dont want to catch anything or reduce in my opinion the below works fine for me. Never caught anything

1 wear protection

2 use mouth wash

3 cover up small cuts on hands fingers nails on

4 use protection for oral sex

5 get tested as often as you can.

6 wash every single sex toys you use with disinfectant before use and after use. Same goes for sexy wear

7 Not a bad idea going on the medication called Prep google it

8 be honest if you catch anything small to big stop playing asap till its gone.

Oh and its only the law to inform people that you have HIV

Its not the law to inform people that you have an std or sti an so on

No news is good news where I go. Yes, some places offer to text or send results, but it's just inconvenient for me to get there so no news is good enough for me. If anyone else isn't comfortable with that - ah well, their problem not mine.

My place insist you return in person regardless and read through every test result in detail. (But they don't give a copy) A detailed email for clear results instead would be a lot better though IMO

Yeah I was never given an actual result either, just either I phone them if I get curious or nothing or they phone me, depending on where I went.

If I got a phone call saying "Come in tomorrow for your results" id probably shit my pants thinking I had something.

I always insist on checking for results of any medical test, no guarantee they didn't lose your sample or your results or neglect to relay a test result that requires treatment.

This is the problem though. People assume that because they always use protection that they are protected and don't bother getting tested. Condoms only reduce risk. They don't fully protect. Skin on skin contact happens anyway, just not internally, and most guys will slap on a condom with the same fingers they've just had inside someone's foof during foreplay... Pointless! There's no point being smug about condom use and thinking you don't need to be tested... You're still just as vulnerable.

Hi all,

HLB here i am a health care professional sand I’m a big advocate for safe sex and watching our sexual health. Often giving out to people I see playing unsafe on here (I know their choice ...... but after 13 years in the sites we’ve been to a few parties in which we witnessed no one using condoms).

Firstly nothing against the people who follow this practice but we all know there are a lot on here who don’t use condoms at all. This in my opinion is very unsafe for everyone they meet afterwards who try play safe.

We all know there are condoms, dental dams etc around.

In addition getting vaccinated against hep A and B when sexually active is advisable. Also for the risk of HIV there is the drug PREP which can be taken. The issue for HIV is the people who don’t know they have the disease. Anyone who has been diagnosed and is receiving treatment generally has a viral load of less than 90% after 2 months of treatment. A low or undetectable viral load means the disease is not transmitted to another person.

Just a few little tips for anyone who may be feeling a bit overwhelmed after reading this forum thread x

"And yet only today you read an update of a woman from a couple who had an 11 man gangbang , all cumming inside her "

Honestly now... Who are we all judging more, the woman for allowing them, or the 11 men? Are we assuming that they are any less 'clean' or responsible about getting tested than say a single or couple attending a club or party and playing with multiple partners? I completely understand people's desire to indulge their fetishes responsibly, and wouldn't judge anyone for doing so, anymore than I would judge anyone for enjoying watersports or S&M, but responsibly is the key word here.

Actually... If anyone has this fetish and would like to give their side, and talk about the measures they take, I'd love to hear them. Preferably openly on the thread as it might provide insight to everyone, and maybe quash a few myths, but I also understand that some may be reluctant to speak up because of fear of judgement, so I'll drop my mail filters for a while if anyone would prefer to reply privately

I didn't assume you were... I was using 'we' as a collective, not in the royal sense My own initial reaction on reading your post was but then my reason kicked in and started questioning why I made that snap assumption and judgement. I have my own fetishes that other people don't understand, and improperly used, they too could cause harm, so why did I snap-judge someone else for theirs?

It's worth knowing that not all STIs are tested for, so one of us can assume we've never had anything but the opposite may be true.

With antibiotic resistance on the rise and with resistant STI strains, it's all the more reason why we should test regularly. I have 3 monthly checkups as a minimum.

"This is very serious and i am taking a big risk here that i will be ridiculed but it has to be said...

More than 1 person has come to us in confidence saying that over the last number of weeks they have picked up a very nasty STI. I would urge anyone who has been active meeting on fab to do what we have done and get tested. We were clear but others have not been so lucky. Also people need to remember it can be picked up from oral very easily and most importantly it is silent and most people wont have symtoms.."

I haven't been very active for the past 10 months.

My GF and I got tested last month, I had nothing wrong with me. It's all clear with me and my ex other two exes( I asked them, and they were happy to say that they are all goo) , but I still got an injection just in case. So my entire body is perfect :D

Guys, it's a good habit to buy those candida and thrush supplements once a year*that is what I do). Every single person here have it, it's part of our body flora, but if your are not having a healthy life those natural fungus can blow and overgrow, causing loads of issues. So the supplements will keep them under control (and in case you don't have a healthy life a fungal antibiotic every two or three years)

I hope that helps

Why are we checking UK's links(much bigger population)? To feel safer and less worried?

Come on, go to the Guide clinic / HSE website, which says all about the local scene aka RO-Ireland

STI in Ireland is increasing due to lack of awareness and silly acts of responsibility, and there is no one to blame other then looking at ourselves on the mirror and take ownership

I forgot to add a lot on here think a lot of these diseases are passed around by the bi/ gay male community. That is total nonsense look up stats its a mixture of sexes and socioeconomic groups and sexual orientations. Aka playing with straight people does not indicate that sex is safe,

Hi,

Can you post some links or something to this point?

Thanks,

Of course:

This link is the easiest read

https://www.hivireland.ie/hiv/hiv-in-ireland/

50% cases men who sleep with men

33% heterosexual cases

Reduction in cases for bi/ gay men. Increase in cases of heterosexual sex

Another interesting article:

https://www.nhs.uk/news/older-people/swingers-at-greater-risk-of-stis/

Why are we checking UK's links(much bigger population)? To feel safer and less worried?

Come on, go to the Guide clinic / HSE website, which says all about the local scene aka RO-Ireland

STI in Ireland is increasing due to lack of awareness and silly acts of responsibility, and there is no one to blame other then looking at ourselves on the mirror and take ownership

https://www.hse.ie/eng/health/immunisation/hcpinfo/othervaccines/hpv/hpvsafety/

https://www.thejournal.ie/sti-data-ireland-sexually-transmitted-infections-4584507-Apr2019/

http://www.guideclinic.ie/sti-clinic/useful-links

"

I have Irish stats above Anyone interested HSE website has all stats xxxx

Agree totally ref lack of awareness

"Hi all,

HLB here i am a health care professional sand I’m a big advocate for safe sex and watching our sexual health. Often giving out to people I see playing unsafe on here (I know their choice ...... but after 13 years in the sites we’ve been to a few parties in which we witnessed no one using condoms).

Firstly nothing against the people who follow this practice but we all know there are a lot on here who don’t use condoms at all. This in my opinion is very unsafe for everyone they meet afterwards who try play safe.

Thanks, perhaps i am just looking at particular information but if i take this paragraph from the journal.ie article straight from the hse.

“In recent years, the greatest burden of STIs is among young people aged between 15-24 and men who have sex with men (MSM), according to the HSE. “

Is this fact?

Sexual education falling somewhere? Teach in school from age 13 and everyone will be safer Even parents should be encouraged to talk about it (of course with the right approach, but sadly some parents are brutes).

Another fact left out:

Heterosexual contact was the second most commonly reported mode of transmission in 2017 (163; 33%

So i looked at the link supplied by koolio

Sex between men was the “””predominant”” route of HIV transmission in Ireland in 2017 and accounted for just over half of diagnoses (262, 53%).

Heterosexual contact was the second most commonly reported mode of transmission in 2017 (163; 33%).

5% of new diagnoses (n=17) were among people who inject drugs.

Correct me if i am wrong but that implies that nearly 2/3rds of new cases are from male to male intercourse?

How is it nonsense? I looked up the link you supplied and posted above what is on the site you supplied and it says m2m in 2017 had 53% of cases thats over half of all new cases related to bi/gay men. Correct?

How many stories I heart about partners cheating each other and having extremely secret affairs. Partners that don't tell their wives/husbands that they are having homosexual encounters... Now you see where the "heterosexual" may have gotten the STI, but there is hygiene to to account in this equation too, and many other variable... Awareness and honesty is the only key... Come on, I hope people here are as responsible and honest as possible

Some good information. Shame it's been clearly misused and misinterpreted by some. Read the facts and don't try to manipulate them for your own agendas.

Hearing different opinions is the best thing about the Forums! It's what keeps things interesting and opens our eyes to new perspectives

Opinions are very important. You may not agree with them but you are entitled to them.

However, if you post what you consider to be a fact you better be able to back it up with that data.

For anyone who is iffy about going to their GP or a clinic you can get an online service from letsgetchecked.com.

They send you a sample kit you follow the instructions post the sample and few days later you get an email with results. No human contact necessary.

I see they offer nursing advice if any test is positive.

But if your nervous that's one answer

we are all here taking risks!!! whoever thinks otherwise is naive , so that person in mentioned by Op was having unprotected sex ? or "she/he got infected by oral?"

facts

1) everyone here takes risks

2) people will have unprotected sex

3) no many people get tested even if they say they do !

4) should never trust anyone that tells you they have been tested to engage in unprotected sex!

5) if you are still here ... well accept the risk and look after your own health no that of others as is not within your control what others do or don't do!
