The one thing I know is always try to stay on your feet. Once you go down, you’re fucked. Particularly when the gloves are off . Then you’ll get kicked to death no matter how small the ball is you are trying to make yourself. Best form of defence; run away. If you can’t do that; give it everything you have. Get your elbows out. ( they are an under-rated weapon- especially close in).

Whatever has happened in yoir life to make this comparison must have been very tough deal with. I wish you the courage and resilience to deal with it. The wisdom to realise even though you are in the ring on your own you are in with the support of your friends and advice of your coach coarsing through your veins.

To quote Rocky :

Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get it and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that!”

Very interesting post and one I can relate to. In my mind teens I didn't deal with stress very well and it was probably down to mental health issues. Would you believe I was advised to take up boxing and kick boxing to help regulate stress when the world got to much. To this day it has stood to me.

Taking punches is a great analogy but keep in mind the punches will never stop coming, you just need to learn how to deal with them day to day. If they do get to much then talking or getting out of that situation is often far better for ones self care than rage and proverbial punches. Good luck and hopefully you dodge more than you take

Don't forget, there always be a rest time in between the knocks. Although very brief, these are the time where we should re-evaluate everything in our life, what our mistakes and what improvement should be taken. Hopefully, we will be stronger in the next round.

Life will do that at times.

I find meditating helps when shit gets on top of me. Even 5 minutes a day will benefit you.

There's loads of guided meditation videos on YouTube, anywhere from 5 minutes to 2 or 3 hours.

It's worth trying.

Is it just a man thing but I always look upon things like meditation, yoga etc with a large slice of doubt ? (No, I’ve never tried them )

I always felt the same. Just thought of it all as hippy shite.

But regardless of that, it does help calm the mind after some practice.

Whether or not we indeed have chakras and chi etc., which I'm open to but take with a pinch of salt, you don't have to believe in any of that to get the benefits of just turning off your mind for a short while.

Honestly, it's good for you regardless and there's no harm in giving it a go.

May nit help at all but I walk. Along the coast or sea works best for me, think your bad thoughts allow them space then cast them off into the sea. It's not a fix but it's been a help to clear the mind and look at something wonderful while doing it. If I'm angry I walk or run really fast and count the sweat as toxic thoughts leaving my body. Well kept secret until now that I've a hippy living inside me. Chin up, you'll get there and there is always someone ready to listen if you need it.

I could have written that. But I wouldn't have wrote it as well as you did. Would have all come out as gibberish

Your not alone.

I smile and wave all day. And can't wait to hide at home.
