I think it’s true for a particular age group. But levels of fitness are different for everyone. Not everyone will be a gym bunny or marathon runner so each to their own level

Absolutely

...and there's as many types of fitness classes are there are types of coffee with Zumba, box fit, Pump, CX Works, pilates, kettlebells, etc...

Ireland has gone from being a pub culture to a gym culture over the last 10 years and it's great to go to a gym and meet people in their 40's, 60's and 80's giving it socks whether to get the body beautiful get fitter, rehab from an injury, battle depression or meet new people. Good times!

I’d say yes but not all revolving around Gyms. I think sports clubs, healthy lifestyles and well being are becoming popular again not only for the beautiful body but for helping the mind too.

Yes. I agree op. I'm a fitness instructor. It comes in cycles. It was the new craze in the 80s also. I think people are starting to realise that they can actually do something to help there own physical and mental health. Therefore "Excercise is medicine ". The trends also shows that fitness crazes are connected to recessions, especially running. It's the cheapest form of sport.

I agree, I think it has a lot to do with mental health aswel as physical health. I'm a lazy person at heart so I'll never be a fitness fanatic but I still drag my ass to the gym a few days a week so I don't feel like shit

I think the rugby played a big part. It showed us we could perform at the highest levels, women started to look for that build of man.

any work done now or at anytime to maintain fitness & mobility will pay dividends in the long run ... health really is your wealth ... you can buy anything except your health...you cannot pay someone to be sick in your place ... mind your physical & mental health

When I first moved here in 2007 youd barely see anyone out running or cycling. Compare that to numbers out now and the difference is huge!

I think its great. Not into the gym myself but love being outside walking/running/hiking.

It is way bigger than before but in some instances it's gone too extreme, some people are training and building mussel like they are professional athletes hitting the gym 5 days, protein drinks and high protein diets. It's a huge commitment and takes over your life and often they don't even compete in a sport.

I suppose its whatever makes you happy but for me I try hit the gym 2/3 times a week just to keep fit and toned up, don't do the whole protein thing just a healthy balanced diet. In my 40's so it's just about keeping fit and in shape for me.

Never thought I'd be one of those women who liked the gym but now I feel a bit.. bleugh if I don't go, it's funny how your body gets used to it. Still not mad enough to train before work though

If you're on the gram you see a lot of fit posts for tips to get bigger asses and 6 packs. Couch to 5k has also helped get more people running. I think it's great that technology and social media is making fitness less intimidating for those that want to start without asking a personal trainer.
