I use it if I want to show I’m interested without committing to a message. That’s all I would see them as if I received them.

Basically it's "I like what I see, if you like me message me"

With a wink you can pretend they never even seen it, with a message it will be scarred into your soul that they opened it, read it, deleted it.

I always assume they're just an acknowledgement of my profile and that the winker liked something about it.

I never take them as an invitation to send a message so I don't.

Maybe I'm getting it all wrong.

I've noticed sometimes I'll get a wink and a day or two later it's gone.

I didn't realize they can be retracted.

Not sure what winking achieves on fab, but my dad sits at the bottom of the sweeping staircase in his swanky old people's home( that's costing a fortune) winking at the female inmates as they take themselves to lunch....

Well I have seen a few profiles that states to wink at them and if they are interested and want to chat they will wink back not a bad deal tbh saves the hi how are you lines lol

Winking is a lazy way of saying hi and if there like that when trying to get a meet God help the poor Lady who ends up in the bed with them........
